I think we'll be ready for West Ham now and will beat them. Laca will be fresh.

These haringey flavored tears are quite delicious, the hint of Jose makes them all the more exquisite.

Now to finish off the night with the bemused look on the Norwegian PE teacher and that’s the best hungover paddy’s day ever

Was Elneny going on about a new deal recently? Sorry but he's not good enough. Never was and never will be. Ceballos should not be kept either.

Elneny wasn’t as bad as some of the others tonight.
He’s not going to be a starter anyway in important games.
Tries his best but sometimes that’s not good enough.
He was Motm at Old Trafford when we beat United and played well in other games but lacks consistency.
There were worse players than him tonight though.

Yes, he works hard but he is so, so limited and doesn't seem to know that you can pass forward once every 15 games or so rather than side to side or backwards. If we are to move forward, I dont think the likes of him should be kept on the books.

If Elneny is kept, Arteta needs to do a better job of who he pairs him with.

If Xhaka, ceballos, elneny, david luiz, were all out the door on the first day the window opens, can’t say I wouldn’t be delighted. It would be too long coming for granit

It’s funny that everyone is talking about how poor Ceballos was and how limited and poor Elneny was/is but nobody talking about how many times Partey gave the ball away!!!
It’s like there is an agenda on some players , normally Xhaka is in there as well. Partey tried to take on a player in our box and lost the ball and Olympiakos could easily have scored from it. If it had been Ceballos, Elneny or Xhaka they would have gotten slaughtered but not a peep about Partey and how ****ing ridiculous it was to take on the player on that position .... strange that!!!

Partey is head and shoulders above the players you named there, and has proven that at the highest level despite still being in his 20s.

    Non argument

Xhaka has been head and shoulders above Partey in performance this season even with the **** ups! I wonder what would have been said had Xhaka walked off the pitch leading to a Spurs goal ?

I’m trying to forget that midfield trio was even a thing. We were horrible to watch tonight up until Partey and Odegaard came on in place of Elneny and Ceballos who hadn’t really contributed much to the game, the latter was actually partially responsible for their goal too.

Yeah Partey made a few annoying errors tonight but he’s not getting a proper run of games and realistically he’s the best midfielder at the club by far.

Granit Xhaka vs Thomas Partey. In an injury plagued first season the couple of times I’ve seen Partey have been enough to tell me half of him would be a better player than xhaka.

Xhaka loves to think he’s a hard man but goes missing when wanted. A stupid moment where the red mist descends or he’ll pick on an opposition player out of pure frustration , next minute he’ll dive and play act.

If we’re serious considering the comparison then Good night. Would xhaka ever have started for an athletico Madrid midfield under Diego simeone? Or been sought after by the top clubs in Europe ?

Yeah Xhaka a key player to our 10th place team is better than Partey who’s barely gotten a chance to put a few games together.

I don’t think we’d be as bad off had he played as many minutes as Xhaka has.

I'm talking about their respective performances this season for Arsenal. Xhaka has been a vital part of the midfield Partey a bit player. Probably not his fault as he's been adjusting to the league and/or recovering from injury. Ask yourself why Arteta plays Xhaka week in week out? I think Partey/Xhaka will be a formidable partnership when the former is up to speed. At the moment Xhaka is having to cover for Partey.

Maybe they will... I should remember it was a positive night tonight :D

I think Villarreal would be dangerous along with Ajax, Roma also give me the jitters for some reason.

Really want United peculiarly. Dinamo zagreb, Granada and slavia Prague we should have no fear of.

Wasn’t an argument, it was an observation !!
Why did Partey get away with a very poor performance but the others don’t? I am not saying that Partey is not an excellent player and will prove to be a great acquisition but my point remains, if he plays bad then call it out, don’t just scapegoat others because it suits an agenda (not talking about you Greenlights specifically more about the general).

    Fair enough.

I’ve noticed after watching on here for a long time that Auba no longer seems to have that untouchable protection about him when it comes to slating.

I’m not saying get rid of him, but he is not the same man who came into the club and had two immediate impact seasons.

All the evidence is pointing to another arsenal player who signed a big money contract and is just sitting back with cruise control on, giving the occasional burst to keep those quiet in the back....

But the same man could go out against west ham and score a hat trick !! However, we dangerously used to say this about ozil “oh he’ll do nothing all game but that one moment he’ll unlock any defense” - that became less and less of an occurrence.

Will never happen, but I’d love to see Martinelli start up front against west ham with saka, smith Rowe and odegaard feeding him in behind. That would be an exciting statement for this club - 4 exciting youngsters.

I’m done with Pepe tbh. A case could be argued for giving him til Xmas, but IMO ive seen enough to suggest it’ll be 3 bad games followed by 1 good/ok game showing flashes of brilliance.

To be fair I thought Partey looked well of the pace and no where near fit even for the 15-20mins he played tonight. He looked almost like it was a pre season, he needs alot of game time in the reserves or PL to be ready for the rest of the Europa League.

Dont think we should keep Ceballos either, we could deffo do better.

Can never understand this argument TBH. I would always prefer to be drawn against a weak side, and for the (other) top teams to be drawn against each other and knock one another out

Need to win three ties to win the trophy, surely a better chance if you play one or two of the weaker sides in that run, rather than three good teams!! That said, I'm not ignoring our ability to screw things up against any opposition.

Partey is no doubt a quality player but was poor last night. And a bad habit he has which I've noticed, when carrying the ball he seems to what to engage with players and get into battles rather than play a 1-2 around them. Done it twice last night.

Ideal draw for me would be Slavia Prague or Zagreb (beat a Spurs team in free fall, they are no great shakes) with United being drawn against Roma.

Granada look like they're doing okay in La Liga so would rather avoid them if possible. Ditto Emery's Villareal. Roma and Ajax are both banana skins.

Likely to be Emery in the semi's and then United in the final (all going well) . It will be like exorcising ghosts from our past if we are to win this thing.

Prague are after knocking out Leicester and Rangers and shouldn't be underestimated. We were absolutely terrible last night and will simply have to play alot better to progress.

Ceballos performances have been littered with errors and Partey is flattering to deceive in spite of the big reputation he has come with. Odegaard was our best player and i thought Pepe played well. What in gods name is wrong with Auba though?

United are tournament favourites which gives me confidence because we are more than their measure, but our performances have been inconsistent

Arteta needs to get Partey up to match fitness urgently.
I think it will be him and Xhaka in the centre of midfield from now on.
Laca up front instead of Auba too on form.
Saka was missed last night and we had absolutely nobody who tried to beat a man up the field until Martinelli came on. I can’t understand the reluctance to take on a man in the forward position.

We should not take Prague lightly at all. They have beaten good opposition so far and don’t forget that Olympiacos knocked us out last season when most thought we had too much for them. We will have to be 100% better than we were last night if we want to get to the final never mind win it. Our midfield is not performing well enough at present to inspire a lot of confidence imo and we need to get them settled in and playing better together on a regular basis, too much chopping and changing imo.

Partey started off very well earlier in the year but is really struggling badly for match fitness. A shadow of himself.

Agreed on Saka. That said, ESR blocked a goal-bound shot from Pepe (who I must say is playing very well lately). Auba missed two or three sitters. Gerry Armstrong was going on about Olympiakos chances and conveniently ignored ours  We'd have got fairer commentary from a Spurs fan channel (if they had one)

I dont think we should take the option to sign Ceballos. A poor player. Easy knowing why Zidane wants rid and wants to keep Odegaard

I know a different position, but Partey is the same age as Keown was when he joined us in 1993. You could argue that Partey has more high level football but Keown took a season to settle and turned into a legend. I think Partey is the real deal, but yeh agree I'd like to see more

Funnily enough, I can remember Keown was struggling under George in 94/95 and then Stewart Houston playing him in a sweeper role which he excelled. Partey might need a few games to regain composure, but i notice he is not making the marauding runs forward that he used to which is a worry. is it a confidence issue?

I think it's Arteta finding the balance. Look at Willian, played played played huge negativity but now he's coming good.

I rate Partey, Vieira rates him, Adams rates him, Liam Brady says the squad rates him

Just needs to get fully fit and stop losing possession near our box.

    No change there then....

Matteo Guendouzi has no future at Hertha Berlin and will be sent back to Arsenal once his loan move finishes this summer, with the German club fuming over his 'stubbornness' and 'failure to take advice', according to reports in Germany.
