Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I originally held a Irish drivers licence and have court in a few months and am going to get banned off the road in Ireland

I moved to the UK and exchanged my licence to an English one and now hold a English drivers licence
Does anyone know if I’ll be banned in the UK when I get banned in Ireland?
I was born in the UK if that makes any difference

If you are banned in Ireland, the Courts will take the licence off you and return it to the issuing authority - DVLA in your case. So the DVLA will be well aware of the ban.

Would be no way round the insurance either as you must declare if you have ever been disqualified and the insurance company in UK will want the reason and the date.

The courts in Ireland have no right to take any foreign license

While technically correct the UK will recognize the Irish ban
Similarly, drivers who hold a UK drivers licence that are disqualified by Irish courts will have their disqualifications recognised in the UK. The initiative known as Mutual Recognition of Driving Disqualifications covers specific traffic offences committed on or after 1 August 2017. The purpose behind the initiative is to keep dangerous drivers off our roads and to make our roads safer.

You will be banned and well screwed with insurance for a while.

Will they know or won't know won't matter in that case, as you know where you stand when it comes to your license.

What if I get insured on a car over there before I get banned over here? Not banned yet and am going back to England tomorrow.
