BMW iDrive reset on E65?

Auld fella went all luxobarge/bangernomics and bought a 06 730 e65 (?) to replace his 04 Fabia.

He's ran into an issue though! From what I gather (trying to diagnose this remotely) he went at the CD player and his iDrive crashed/froze. He was able to get into the radio but the channels were gone, then it froze completely on a random screen. I've read a few solutions about holding buttons or just leaving it but they seem contradictory and just leaving it alone for a few hours hasn't worked.

Any ideas on how what to try would be great - he's driving me mad with questions about it til I get to go see it for myself!

If he has removed or disconnected the CD changer, he has introduced a break in the MOST bus. Either plug in a replacement CD changer or similarly compatible device, or terminate the break in the loop by connecting a bypass connector to the harness that came off the CD changer:

Also, depending on what he's done, he could have damaged any number of components, possibly the ASK unit.

Thanks for that. My understanding is he hasn't removed it but just tried to use it but few things online mentioned the MOST bus, went into the glove box and he was checking the loop thing and couldn't remove it.

to restart ccc idrive hold eject button both on cd player and sat dvd and press in the radio volume dial

Thanks. Think he's tried that but need to check it's all 3.
