Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Working on an oil rig in the North Sea (in all weathers), has to be the worst job 'out there'.

Depends on the wages, I would have though.

In asnwer to the question, anything in supermarkets.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I wouldn't say "worst job" but a tough job that takes a tough person underneath.

A nurse in all types, old folks/A&E/Home help special needs etc...

Fire Department... car accidents and rescue, putting out fires is the easy part id say.

A corner shop/chipper or a Garda that has to work in a rough area. They have to put up with some scumbags its unreal.

The ol site Labourers can have it hard too.

The poor nurse in the West that's looking after 28 covid positive patients as all her colleagues are out sick with covid.

Probably drained, exhausted, scared but doing it cos she actually cares.

I'd do any job but that at the moment.

A friend of mine worksi n a chicken processing plant , hes management level but started at 17 years after leaving school, hes pushing 50 now having worked their all his adult life. Married his childhood sweetheart too who also worked in the factory too.
Apparently there 70 million plus chickens processed in Ireland yearly and over 350 chicken processing plants according to him.

There are no more jokes to torment him with , though in a drunken moment recently he was asked if the chicken in snack boxes was from the same chicken.

Residential care. Paid to be a punchbag/target for abuse daily. Companys that care about how much per child they can get over safety of their staff.

While its not difficult to see why thevyoung people behave the way they do, after a while it just becomes a chore and any desire to help them goes out the window.

I insulated my attic once. You get hot, dripping with sweat, dusty, crawling around, spiders all over, possible wasp hives. I'd hate to do that for a living.

Also, civil service - they have it hard.

I know a guy who does it. Not good at all. You don't get much out of him, but his son spoke a bit once; not nice. Son not involved anymore after that. Not that there's any secrets or anything, just got cut off over explaining about the state one scene was in that they'd to clean.

yea its rough, like many other departments, the endless middle management I witnessed have it easy instead of those in the trenches.

Two men were killed by fumes a few years ago - they went down a manhole of human sewage to identify a problem. Its hard to imagine wading through human filth for a living with no guaranteed pension, state benefits or guaranteed income.

Firemen. Imagine running INTO an inferno for a living. Or having to crawl in the dark throuhh flames and burning plastic to try and find a child before it dies. And then having to try and get out with it or recussitate or treat it after you crawl from the flames. Has the new government improved their faulty unreliable breathing apparatus and lack of equipment issues? No. Nor proper salaries nor emotional nor psychological support.

Gaurd - in many cases having to be polite to total scumbags and lying knackers for fear of a complaint against them or their free legal aid laywer. Few years ago some scobies laywer sued because of what the gaurds said about his client on tape when he was not there - and won on the grounds that his feelings would have been hurt had he heard the comment. ffs. HOW are they expected to win the war on criminal scum?

Trumps PR agency. No job stability and endless hours.

+ 1 for that poor girl modding on FB - no money is worth the mental damage that would do to you.

Teachers union always have to claim they have it bad, I remember the fella Hawe did what he did and a comment here said it shows what pressure teachers are under.

Let the kids wear coats if the windows are open. Pass Irish isnt more important than having a warm childhood.

That's a crazy job. I heard they do all sorts of personality tests in the interview process. Just to make sure the candidate isn't actually a pedo wanting to look at child porn legally. I no somebody working in that Facebook position aswell. You would need a strong personality to just switch off after work I'd imagine after the crazy stuuf they see.

Teachers here only think they have it bad.
A primary school teacher in Northern Ireland, newly qualified and in their second year teaching earns €700 a month less than the same teacher here. ( converting their sterling wages to euros).

    Jobs I wouldn't do?
Slaughter man in a factory, or working in a knackery.

I was offered one of those positions about a year ago, and turned it down. I say “offered”: I would have had to interview as normal, but I doubt that would have mattered. It would have been for the South Africa region, since I speak Afrikaans, and I took an hour to think about it before politely telling them “hell, no”. That was before I read articles about it.

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
