Jesus, that brought back some memories. My wifes first car was one of those in that colour. Remember driving to dublin in it after I had gotten it NCT'd and nearly ditching it. My bicycle had wider tyres :D

Bargain there especially for a prefacelift. If it was rust free the right customer would give up on 1k.

    03 sdi fabia
Test till May & tax till Jan.
Same owner since 2005 160k on the clock
    For sale by a trader.
Asking €650 should definitely come into budget with a haggle.
Doesn't look to be faded pink either.

I'd say the only thing that would bring that off the road at this stage would be the tax. A very reliable handy runaround for someone

The SDi's were rare enough in fabia's , would suit some one with a long commute with a razor thin budget. Tax is a real kicker obviously but that yoke would do 60mpg without an issue I 'd say

Seller has 3 cars for sale, all showing parked on same grass. Presumably small time dealer. Why no interior photos, maybe just shifting stock main dealer does not want, still not sold.

That said demand in Sligo is probably relatively low. The fact it just passed an NCT a few weeks ago mean just engine servicing and bodywork damage need to be checked. Insurance quote for 21 year old car would be important before you even look at it. Annual road tax is the price of the car.

It's crazy the way things are now insurance wise... Back when i started driving if this sort of car was on the buy and sell it wouldn't last half an hour there... These are the sort of cars people should be able to run and insure as a first car. If it has an nct the year shouldn't matter...

The same insurance companies that won't insure these cars for new business customers are happily insuring cars of the same age in other EU countries.

One of the reasons given is that they tend to be used for bogus insurance claims in Ireland. I don't know how valid this is.

NCT extension till May 2021, looking for €495. Stated odometer 120km, even if it's in miles still fairly alright.

Bought this lovely banger today, €300, Nct till September next year, taxed for the end of the month, and it has a drawbar!

    The missus hates it.

Small update on this, threw a bottle of dipetane into and drove it up to deansgrange in 3rd.

Passed without a advisory 1st time. Admittedly it hasn’t been driven much but still.

Thought about selling it on but it’s absolutely worthless even with 13 months Nct.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,923 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

I wouldn't say worthless especially knowing us in here!

    Far from worthless...

    Ah, i dunno.

They are really great cars, particularly the early ones like that with the 4AFE.

What's is worth though? €500? Worth multiples of that to the owner of course.

Exactly, monetary value of it is about €500, having a spare motor that’s bulletproof with a long Nct is worth more.

Asking €450, 10 months test and a months tax on it, doesn't look too shook.

Controvertially i think there is almost a bit of novelty in an early Mk1 Focus now, particularly a low spec and a basic colour like this one.

One to drive for a year and if it isn't red rotten, put it away for a few years.

I has a 00 one years ago, LX spec but with a 1.8 tddi engine. Couldn't keep the rust off it but otherwise a very good car at teh time.

Always wondered why there weren't more MK1 Focus still around, as I think they sold in big numbers back in the day. Still lots of Corolla's from that era on the go. So it was rust that killed them off?
