    Hey guys,

Racking my brain here once again...

Tracing my mothers side back to a Agnes McMahon here in limerick. In the 1901 census she is in the same house as her sixty year old mother listed as Alice Organ.

First question is how widespread is this name?

In the 1901 census Agnes is listed as 23, with three daughters aged 5,4,3

Obviously census ages can't be depended upon and the 1911 only compounds the problem. Any chance any one can find a record for this Agnes McMahon (organ), born ? And married to a Patrick McMahon 1894.

    Or indeed any pointers

There are 116 Organs in the 1911 census and 130 in 1901.

Agnes may have been registered as O'Regan, in which case, she may be Agnes Mary, of Robert O'Regan, and Mary Tubbs, of Colloney Street, Limerick. born 19 Dec 1872, registered 1 Jan 1873. Limerick no.4 reg district.
However, this seems a bit early, maybe her age was understated in 1901.

Well, obviously, you'll get the marriage cert of Agnes and Patrick. That will tell you her father's name and a church. Fingers crossed that church's records will be available on Rootsireland and you'll find her mother's maiden name from there.

Sorry limericklad - only realising my oversight now.
Your Agnes and Alice are Limerick City.
The people I've linked to are Ennistimon.
I was in too much of a hurry to join up the dots!

It is possible that Alice and Agnes were born in Enistimon - Agnes couldn't read and the form was filled out for her so the wrong information about birthplace might have been recorded.
