Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Should applicants with fake passports be given Irish residency anyway?

There is a big campaign currently around a specific deportation case here ( I am trying to keep ethnicity out of this discussion) and the supporters are now playing the emotional humanitarian card as all other options are used up. But if fake passports are allowed, will Ireland set a dangerous precedent and become the go-to country if you have fake papers?
Also I could only find one reference to the fake passport and that was in the UK Times. Weird.

    Fake passports: deportation
    Failed asylum application: deportation
Break the law and given a custodial sentence whilst here on a visa: deportation

The Australians have the right idea.

From what I heard on the radio today, it may have been a genuine passport, but obtained by providing incorrect documentation. Can anyone shed any light?

Passport obtained by fraudulent means is better why?

There's 3000-5000 minors apparently due to be deported, plus their parent(s).
We can't afford it, simple, despite whatever local TD looking for a few votes says

Why can't we just say your asylum is denied ,and immediately be taken into custody till a flight is organised and be done with it,

Seems people want it everyway and anyway .

Illegally here shure they feel Irish let them stay committed serious crimes shure let them stay it's the Irish in us ,
Sent them home people call for them to be reimported.

Not familiar with the case in question but if asylum claim is successful it should be ignored, otherwise you end up with a very ridiculous situation, and you are making the dictatorship countries job easier

Arrive, apply and if denied, be granted ONE appeal to a higher court... this should all take less than 3-6 months.

If again rejected or if you arrive illegally, overstay your visa, or otherwise abuse the existing immigration process, you should be sent back where you came from and added to a list cirulated to airports and ports to prevent illegal re-entry.

No exceptions. The rules and means for legitimate entry and naturalisation are there.. use them properly, or go elsewhere.

Why would I stop the poster? You may be right, I seem to have made a mistake.

No. It should be immediate deportation. This shouldn't even be debatable.
