I'm keen on this chair here https://www.ambientedirect.com/en/norr-11/mammoth-fluffy-lounge-chair-frame-oak_pid_28189_960928.html
but I would rather it was a swivel chair and also slightly lower down than it is in that picture.
The wood is curved so I'm guessing this is not a simple job. I've googled around and find a lot of furniture makers who do kitchen tables, cabinets, etc but I don't get the impression they would be interested in taking something like this on. Do I need some type of specialist furniture maker who do custom one off pieces and are these people out there? Any pointers much appreciated or PM any company name that might do jobs like this.

You'll find someone to make it all right it's not a complicated chair but by the time you find someone to do the upholstery it'll be adding up big time.
If I was dead set on it is buy the chair and have it modified.

Another option would be to order in a current model Eames chair, which sounds more like what you're after:

I really like the one you've linked too.

Im actually after the geometry of the Eames chair on this Mamouth chair which is why I am researching getting it custom made. I also want the chair to swivel which the stock Mamouth as linked in the OP doesnt do.

Would you have any idea of what just the chair frame might cost to make without upholstery?
Buying it and modifying to include a swivel might be an option, thanks for the suggesstion.

No idea unfortunately - you're up against the cost of scaled up manufacturing here. Anyone making something of that style from scratch has to build the forms/press themselves, which will put the time/cost up and beyond a commercial chair coming from a joinery plant already tooled up.

You could try getting in touch with a shop selling bespoke furniture to see if they could put you in touch with someone already making that style of furniture, which could reduce a quote considerably. Perhaps someone like: https://www.cadesign.ie/ .. although it's possible they'll want to mediate for a cut!!!

Another option is to go "backwards"; approach an upholsterer and ask if they can direct you to craftsperson in the right area. E.g. Stefan at http://upstudio.ie/ (he's a good guy).

Thanks for the tips chillyspoon. I'm not having much luck with it so far, I emailed eight companies who googled as making custom furniture. Four of them got back to me but only one willing to take it on and they said it would be a very complicated process of reverse enginneering and thus very expensive, €4k+ was the ballpark. I hadn't thought of it as such an expensive/complex job but it seems it might be if 7/8 companies are unwilling to touch it. I had hoped to find a smaller bespoke wood worker, the type that might work from a small industrial unit or a shed in their garden but they seem difficult to find, or at least they don't seem to have websites or contact details online.
