Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Saw the trailer for that - looks very creepy. :)

FYI there is an Alita: Battle Angel early screening for Unlimited card holders on Monday night (out for everyone else on Wednesday).

This Monday's Scream Unseen is now an Irish exclusive. It will be a regular Screen Unseen in Britain. I think the reason for this is the Irish horror movie due out next month has been leaked online so they brought the release date forward for it. That movie is
    The Hole in the Ground

Did anyone go to The Hole in the Ground?

I saw it. Wasn't great if I'm honest.
Mother lives in rural Ireland, Wicklow specifically, and lives beside this giant sinkhole. She starts to think her child isn't the same child and things deterioate from there. What could have been interesting just became muddled as the existence of the sinkhole is never really explained. A few references, whether deliberate or otherwise, which put you in mind of far better films
for instance Babadook and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, even The Shining,
make you aware of the film's shortcomings.

I couldn't make it but I wasn't bothered about it as the reviews point out it's just another jump scare accompanied by loud violin screech horror movie, I've seen too many of them already.

The Screen Unseen in the UK was Wild Rose which seems to have gone down a treat judging by twitter & reddit reactions.

Screen Unseen is back on May 6th. No clues yet not that it would matter.

I'll spoiler this for anyone who likes the surprise element but it a few people have pointed out these things
Beanie Feldstein (star of Booksmart) was in the 2017 Broadway revival of 'Hello Dolly' alongside Bette Midler. And both Cineworld Unlimited and SKY VIP are having screenings of Booksmart on May 6th & 7th and they often show the same movies as Odeon do at Screen Unseen when they are on the same day.

If it is that I'd be happy with it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,960 ✭✭✭Autecher

    Clue 2: Sibling 1995

Again, smarter people than me have come up with this
Beanie Feldstein is Jonah Hill's sister and he directed the movie Mid90s

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,960 ✭✭✭Autecher

    Clue 3: Not Oscar
    Clue 4: Retired Anchor

I have had it confirmed by a guy I know who works in an odeon that tonight's movie is
Booksmart, which has been getting really good reviews.

Same as tonight's Unlimted Screening in Cineworld so.

    New Scream Unseen next Monday.

Clue #1: Leaders Gone Radio Silent

Looking at horrors in September, it could be IT: Chapter 2 (due 6th) or Ready or Not (due 27th)?

Ready or Not is from the Radio Silence filmmakers.

Yeah I had a look at the usual speculation websites last night and they are all convinced that it's Ready or Not too.

    Clue 2 (of 2):

    LINCOLN BECOMING CHRISTIAN

It's next Monday (not the 2nd like I originally though).

Next Monday is the Screen Unseen while the following week is the Scream Unseen.

I think Screen Unseen might be the Shia La Boeuf film 'The Peanut Butter Falcon'.

**edit D'Oh! It's an Irish film, so not that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,534 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Clue 2 for Scream Unseen is "Freddy All Grown Up".

Adam Brody played adult Freddy in Shazam and he is in Ready or Not.

Screen Unseen tonight was 'Extra Ordinary' an Irish comedy with Maeve Higgins. I knew nothing at all about it, but very much enjoyed it. Quite a bizarre story, but lots of out loud laughs from the audience.
Rapid fire gags, I'm sure we missed most of them. Nice cameo from "Sister Michael" from "Derry Girls".
**edit just realised Mary McEvoy from Glenroe was in it too.

Only came across Screen Unseen yesterday :pac: don't know how I missed it as I usually go to Odeon a lot. But what's the average movies?
From what i've been reading there isn't a lot of mainstream movies, right?
Like, I dunno, would Once Upon A Time In Hollywood been one or too big of a movie type thing?

I am clueless as you can see :pac:

Tarantino might be a bit too 'we know it will draw them in anyway'.

Films from the last year or so have included:
    Moonlight
    The Shape of Water
    Nightcrawler
    Black Mass
    Room
    The Revenant
    War on Everyone
    Arrival
    The Big Sick
    The Death of Stalin
    Three Billboards outside Ebbing

So, not 'Die Hard' or the like, but slightly quirky.
I have always found them interesting and sure for half price, it won't kill me to sit through a couple of hours.

    When was this advertised?

They advertise it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and on their mailing list (if you're subscribed)

They'll also have a page on their site if you go looking for it. Last nights page has vanished, but here is the one for Scream Unseen next Monday:

I really enjoyed the Scream Unseen on Monday. Ready of Not was a great mix of thriller, excitement and humour.

I particularly enjoyed Adam Brody's sarcastic comments throughout.
Henry Czerny and the aunt were great fun too.

Screen Unseen tonight listed as subtitled...could it be 'Parasite'?

    1. (Faraway) first in a sunny climate
    2. Symbiotic relationships
    3. Theories from East & West
    4. Admiring the silhouette.

So pleased to finally see it, I’ve been infuriated for months with the lack of an Irish screening so delighted to have seen it before the year’s out (still think the distributor is mad for holding it back til February, mind, given the buzz from the US in the past few months). Hopefully not the last time Odeon dip into subtitled fare :)

    Clues so far

    1. "The cold heart of Dixie"
    2. "He knows kung fu"
    3. "An all too real tryptic with a familiar face"

The clues never help me, but I have seen mentioned online 'Richard Jewell', 'Just Mercy' and 'Queen and Slim' as possibles. I'd be happy with any of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 966 ✭✭✭heffo500

Fourth clue: When Erik met Carol.

    Has to be Just Mercy

Clue 1: Drawing on the Classics
Clue 2: Hip Hop in an Aquarium

I've seen Dream Horse mentioned. Not sure how it ties into the clues though.

    Also possibly Vivarium.

    https://www.odeoncinemas.ie/films/screen-unseen/HO00001589/

No clues what it is (they don't give the rating nor duration). However on the same day

    Omniplex have a Secret Screening

    https://www.omniplex.ie/whatson/movie/showtimes/secret-screening

They do give the rating and duration (12A and 2hrs 13min) which matches The Creator
