Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tastes that have gone to sh1t

Inspired by a post in another thread giving out about today's Lucozade (It's pure manky whatever they did to it in recent years, I used to love the stuff) as well as my own recent experience with the new yellow snack:

Has anyoone tried it? I used to love yellow snacks. The new ones are smaller (Ok its a bummer but I can get over this) but they also have a new taste which recalls a synthetic approximation of sugar mixed with cooking chocolate mixed with sh1t. Revolting.

Galaxy bars are manky now as well. As are yorkies. And don't get me started about the dairy milk.

Is nothing safe?? What's going on?

Lucozade now has an artificial sweetener to avoid the sugar tax.

    This predates it.

    Airline peanuts.

    What's the deal with them?

Afaik no change there but as it happens I'm getting a flight tomorrow and I will let you know 'the deal' then.

    Spicebags.

What the actual fook is the fascination with these ? Even heard Ivan Yates inform us today that they had been voted Ireland's favourite takeaway food.

Go and ask the back of my balls.

I've only had the one spice bag granted, but it was fcuk all to write home about. Bag of your typical Chinese fake chips, some meat textured stuff and a few bits of chilli and onion covered in a salty/spice mix, which I didn't find appealing I the slightest- and left me wondering what exactly the big fuss is on them any way

It's certainly no chicken Saag, pilau rice, garlic onion and coriander naan/ or even a battered sausage/burger and real chipper chips.

Sorry to drag this off topic but in the '60s the Lucozade bottles came in yellowish plastic wrapping.
Motorists discovered that if they taped this wrapper around the car-headlamps, you had brilliant fog-lamps. Nearly every car and tractor had Lucozade wrapper attached to the lights!
Some Hospitals banned Lucozade if I remember correctly. I had a bottle confiscated when I went to visit a patient in Mullingar Hosp in the 70s. It was returned as I left by the Matron, with a lecture not to bring 'anymore of that stuff here in future!'

    Nostalgia.

the common denominator for the majority of posts in this thread is the fact that American Multinational, Mondelez (formerly Kraft) bought Cadbury a number of years ago and to increase customer satisfaction shareholder profits, went about enhancing the recipes across the majority of products by using less cocoa with cheaper "filler" ingredients and using more sweeteners rather than sugar.

as you get older your taste buds degrade? has anyone thought of this as a possibility? would explain a lot. even though its quite sad.

Very surprised to hear that . Hospitals usually have Lucozade in the fridge to use to raise low blood sugar quickly
Mind you the blessed change in the amount of glucose now in Lucozade has caused problems for diabetics who use it for a low episode

I've noticed that Coca Cola has become flatter.

I thought it was just a bad bottle in one shop, but the new taste is like the concentrate you get in McDonald's

Loop d Loops, gone to sh1te!! The green bit isn’t even green it’s just a yellowy colour!!

Tangle Twisters seem great again now despite them being changed years ago!!

Seems like my 17 year campaign to “Make Tangle Twisters Great Again” finally got somewhere!!

I think it's probably the other way around. As you get older you taste more and more different things and your tastebuds get more refined. A lot of the examples in this thread are junk food you would have mainly eaten as teenagers. Then you try it again years later and don't understand how you could ever like that stuff so much. That's my theory anyway. Most of the food/drinks I liked as a teenager I don't like anymore now. I guess a lot of recipes were changed over time though, and I really dislike the taste of most artificial sweeteners.

I buy the slabs of 20 cans myself.. Refrigerate better, tastes better and a lot better value than the rip-off 1.5L bottles they're selling these days (which yes go flat very quickly)

    Cause sugar is extremely addictive.

It's like saying coke is full of rat poison, faeces, baking soda etc.... But I can't get me enough of the hookers and coke.....

Lucozade now has an artificial sweetener to avoid the sugar tax.

why would an energy drink remove the glucose?

Bit like the zero calorie "energy" drinks, like cals are energy!!! Retarded.

First they came for the socialists...
