I love Christmas songs and they really help in the build up to Christmas. But every year all of the radio stations stop playing them by Christmas Day.

When do people think they should stop playing?

    About now would be good.

They should be pulled from the airwaves ad infinitum, 80's synths and all that dreary muck.

    Oi, leave 80's synths alone!

A better question would be when should they start. There's absolutely no need to be playing them from the start of November.

December 8th to January 6th should be a law.

New Year's Eve sounds about right.

Christmas songs in the week after Christmas is fine, but once 2nd January comes and it's all back to normal, Xmas songs are just all wrong.

    9pm 26th.

    Christmas FM has it right.

That’s about right. 26th is like the after party, still good to hear the Xmas music. But after that, nah. Unless it was orchestral kinda stuff, general wintery festive music, that’s reasonably acceptable.

George Michael on loop doesn't cut it for me.

The majority of Christmas music I hear is in shops. And since we do not really do the Santa thing with our kids - or much of the contrived or forced commercial side of Christmas - I do not hear much of that.

But I do at some evil level enjoy the steadily more desperate to escape look workers in shops get as they are slowly warped by more and more Christmas music and it slowly drives them demented. Shortening the radio play time of Christmas music would eliminate that little pleasure :)

This song should be in regular rotation all year round, I fúcking love it.

Or at least this cover version

There should be a moratorium on Christmas songs being played outside of 01-31 Dec each year.

    No exceptions.

People/businesses celebrating or promoting Christmas before December have ruined it.

    There's no magic anymore.

Not to be crude or anything, but hearing Christmas songs any time after New Year's Eve is like when a porn video keeps on playing after the **** is over.

    it should be made law

xmas songs start on Dec 1st... end midnight Dec 25th

any disc jockey who breaks this rule should be shot, end of

    next.....

The problem is not when to stop, it's when to start.

They start way too early. Christmas should not be mentioned until 1st December. We get Christmas decorations in shops now in October. It's crazy.

I'm sick of Christmas by the time the 25th arrives.

I think they should start 1st December, end 6th January which is little Christmas. People who work all over Christmas sometimes don't get to celebrate until afterwards so that's fair enough.

Christmas actually starts on 25th and runs for 12 days after that, so there should be no problem with songs being played after the 25th. And a bit off topic, but it’s often the people who put their tree up crazy early, like in November, who then have everything down on 26th/27th. Weirdos! 😄

I think once it’s December it’s acceptable enough. And after NYE you just don’t want to hear them anymore.

Christmas songs on the 26th. They are really advent songs. Winter lights (excepting those that are specifically Christmasy) on March 1st.

Not really in October. Halloween takes care of that.

Here's a clue. Twelve days of Christmas.

No radio station should be allowed play more than two Christmas related tunes per week outside of that.

Christmas has lots all it's magic by being stretched too thin.
