Waterprood jacket

Just been through the same query.......

The majority of advice that I received was towards the Salomon Bonatti, OMM something or other, the Colombia outdry above. However, i was looking for something a little cheaper and my main requirements were packable enough to fir into the running vest when in the mountains and fully waterproof for emergencies.

I tend to run in a wind jacket in almost all weather, so wanted an extra waterproof emergency layer in case i injured myself and had to wait out a rescue, or a significantly slower hobble back to the car. As such breath-ability was not really high on the list of requirements.

I settled on the Decathlon Evadict waterproof jacket, and at €70 is considerably cheaper than pretty much any other option out there.

Review - waterproof - pretty much totally. Packs down into a bag about the size of a 330 ml can. Light and comfortable to wear and the hood is brilliant. Fits snugly around the face and moves with your head so no impact on visibility.

I did two runs in it in bucketing rain and wind the weekend before last. Was a bit damp on the inside from sweat, but very comfortable considering i was running for 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 hours in very wet and windy weather.

I can't compare it regarding breath-ability to the more expensive offerings but i am very happy with it, and it represents excellent value for money for me.
