Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah but as you say they bat long...

This is a doddle now, 16 off 144 balls required! 157/4.

Six wicket victory...a walk in the park. Easier said than done I know but Ireland need to post bigger scores...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

All over, lost by 6 wickets, the top order contributed nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭MFPM

    133 balls to spare too!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭MFPM

Ireland 17/2 after 7 overs...not a good start. Stirling goes cheaply again, he is maddeningly inconsistent for a player of his talent.

James Vince bowling....just taking the proverbial now.

    Absolutely!:D

Loads of starts but no one has made a decent score yet.

Campher showing some fight here, following his performance in the 1st match...good support by Singh too.

Babar Azam can play a bit, and Shan Masood, the Pakistani foreigner who was born in Kuwait, durable as ever, solid technique. 121-2 and shockingly raining in Manchester

Babar looks the real deal...good day for Pakistan.

Baber Azam has been the real deal for a few years now. World class batsman.

Azhar Ali rewarded for being brave at the toss and batting first with it being cloudy and overcast. In a great position after day 1 with a good forecast, drying pitch and two spinners.

To a point, he can struggle against the short ball - certainly did the last tour in England, even today when England tried it. He's looking good though.

Couple of quick early wickets change the complexion of this game, it's overcast and the ball is swinging, 2 wickets and runs have also dried up. If England can get a couple more they'll be in a good position in this match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,828 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

All of a sudden England are looking not very threatening. A good number of deliveries offering width and an opportunity to score. Broad looking leggy, Wokes a bit more threatening, let’s see now with Jimmy can they be more of a threat.

Mirror of yesterday, England bowled well in the morning but poorly in the afternoon. Great performance by Masood...If they can get anywhere near 350 with the pitch turning it could be tough for the English batters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Aye Pakistan well on the way to respectability here, will put pressure on the collapse prone English batting!

    Edit: Commentators curse, Shadab goes!

Fuçk, put down by Buttler, not a difficult chance, a small deflection just went hard into the hands and onto the deck.

    Masood has batted well.

what would be par on this pitch? 360?

Hard to know, only 3 players got past 20. Competitive as it is I'd say

Yes I was thinking the same.

Weird looking scorecard...Pakistan 312/8.. yet only 4 batsmen in double figures. Mad stuff.

Good stuff from Pakistan, England in ribbons

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,828 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Root had a strike rate there of 7.89... unheard of haha

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭MFPM

Root gone now...1 more wicket and Pakistan into England's tail.

    62/4...England in trouble here

Pakistan bowled well but some of the shots that the English lads played really contributed to their own downfall. Root, Stokes...were the only two I watched but were poor shots.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,315 ✭✭✭Gillespy

England up against it. Awful after lunch, throwing the game away with rubbish bowling after being excellent in the morning session. Half expected a collapse first up. Pakistan well on top and deserve to be. Pope England's best hope of making a game of this, few partnerships with Buttler, Woakes and Bess. Broad might come off again and who knows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,828 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

England really need to get through to lunch without loosing another wicket. They can do that with another 70 runs on the board say 160/4... try press on after lunch to up and over 200 they can try and push onto a par score or thereabouts... looking at the scoreboard they are certainly a couple of wickets down more than they’ll be comfortable with.

Challenging day ahead though especially for the bowlers with temperatures in Manchester getting up to 28/29 degrees with no rain forecast and with little or wind to speak of. Interesting day ahead. The likelihood is the morning session will be absolutely crucial to dictating the outcome.

Stokes was just beaten by a ball that was too good, Abbas is accurate and moves the ball wherever he wants it to go, not even quick, just accuracy and variation.

Stokes got a dream delivery, probably unplayable but I don't like how he walks at the ball at the start of his innings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Now the shine has gone off the new ball, Butler and Pope are rebuilding quite nicely for England, they really need a big partnership here. Only the one wicket between Pakistan and the tail!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭MFPM

    Pope gone! Into the tail.

Butler bowled. England could really struggle from here if the Pakistan bowlers keep up the good standard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,828 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Pakistan have bowled seriously well.. threatening line and length just around off stump. No real width, and all with pace.

I say right now, England would bite your hand off for another 80 runs.

Wokes gone, looked to have ran out of patience and tried to pull a very full delivery. Pakistan bowlers in the last 6 overs had been turning the screw but nothing to admire about that shot, careless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

9 down, still over 100 behind. Gloomy outlook for England

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

    219, defecit of 107.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,828 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

6-1. Poor delivery but a poorer shot and an easy take for Butler down the leg side. England needed a good start, now they’ve got one can they capitalize and apply real pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭MFPM

Pakistan two down....Abid just gave his wicket away, terrible shot and no need to paly it in the situation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

England will struggle to chase down 200 in their 2nd innings

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭MFPM

Babar gone for 5....not great batting by Pakistan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭MFPM

Azhar gone now, another poor shot, 63/4....this is woeful batting by Pakisatn, it's not even like it's outstanding bowling.

Looks as though it may be time to contact the ICC's anti-corruption team!

A couple of those dismissals were too dumb to be credible.
