Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for livery yards in south Dublin / north Wicklow? Looking for somewhere with indoor and outdoor floodlit arenas as I will be riding after work during the winter. Would also like the option of having someone from the yard to ride my horse when I am not available... Thanks

I just moved to Ireland and I am looking for a nice grass livery for my connemara-arab. She has always lived outdoors and it is very important that it stays that way. Do you know if there is any public transport that goes there ?

    Thanks very much

    Hi,

    www.clonfertmaynoothequestrian.com

35 euro grass livery - really nice yard. You may even get a chance to sell your pony there!

Ask for Cormac or John. On back road - approx 8 miles from Clane.

    Hope this helps!

A few equestrian centres/yards in the Swords area have already been mentioned in the thread. I think they were on the first page... Might be of some help to you?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 42 workaholic2

I have tried the ones that were mentioned and none of them do grass livery all year round! :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,339 ✭✭✭convert

Have you tried the Irish Field/Farmers' Journal/donedeal for livery ads? Or would you consider putting an ad in one of the above, or a similar publication?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 42 workaholic2

Have looked everywhere online, done deal, irishhorsetrader, horseplay etc. Ive even googled grass livery in dublin! have checked in the irish field and farmers journal too! am putting ads up, but i thought i'd ask here first ;)

Castle Hill is 2 Miles from North Dublin Border in Julianstown. Indoor and Outdoor Arenas. One Mile from the Beach. Daily Turnout. I dont think you will find many places with Year Round Grass .. since in the interest of proper land managemnt Horses in general are removed from the Spring and Summer Grazing areas. Otherwise .. you have NO paddocks when needed.

Hi - I had my horse on grass livery from Dec 08 to Aug 09 in Nth Co. Dub and he got severe Mud Fever on his 1 white foot due to the lovely July weather we got!
I was watching the weather forecasts and it was more rain in August so I was looking everywhere for a reasonable Livery yard as I know the only way I was ever gonna heal my horse was in a stable. I seen an ad in work in the Irish Field for Beech Park Livery Stables in the Naul & the Lady was so lovely.
She came in her horse truck that evening and within 3 weeks my horse was healed. It's 200 per month for DIY (which I am on, I buy my own food, own mucking out but she supplies hay and turns him out every morning as I am up in the evenings)and 360 for full livery.
She has an outdoor arena too - not the biggest but it's grand & has lights too.Only 1 full jump with wings in it but she says she is getting more in 2010.
Best thing is the hacking - it's right beside the McKen run and there are oodles of fields. Over the years I have been to various diff yards but this one I really like, if anyone would like contact details you can private message me. Kooja

Clonfert's gorgeous, my friend moved her horse there recently and the owners are freakishly nice, lending me a horse to go riding when I go up to see my friend and her horse!

I don't think Kill has been mentioned - www.killinternational.ie Expensive! But phenomenal if you can afford it (I can't). Also Cirque du Cheval's on there at the start of Dec, I can't wait!

I've put details on this thread before about the great diy in Stepaside. Sadly the owner's moving back to Wales and I've been trying to decide between 2 lovely yards in the Kilternan/Enniskerry area.

Both do full livery for €120/wk and both are 60/wk for diy though this includes haylage in Highland View Lodge in Kilternan.

Highland View is a stunning yard which is used as a stud - gorgeous stabled courtyard with a fountain in the middle, horsewalker, olympic sized outdoor arena with floodlights and great hacking. They also have a few cross country fences. About 30 stables but only about 6 liveries there at the moment. Only negative I can find is floodlights must be turned off by 8pm due to stipulations by the council, obviously this wouldn't matter in the summer. Owner Tina seems very nice and helpful and the yard is close to Killegar which has a good riding club.

Oatfield Stables in Enniskerry village is a small rented yard with a large floodlit arena, about 16 stables but they only have about 7 horses there and only want 3/4 more liveries. It's less than a minute's walk from the 44 bus and is right in Enniskerry village (great food!), fantastic hacking near Powerscourt around there. Guy who rents the yard has 3 eventers and is a sound guy who has a lorry for going places if anyone's interested.

Both places are very easygoing and horses can be turned out all day no problem though there isn't much grass at the moment. On diy both will feed and turnout in the morn, both also can do somewhere between full and diy due to there always being people at the yards.

If anyone is interested in either of these yards please get in touch, I have 2 friends moving from Stepaside and I think 1 will move to Highland View, 1 to Oatfield. I'd love to get a small friendly crew together, someone willing to share their box would be fabulous as I can't afford a jeep as it'd be so uneconomical with all the driving I do for work at the moment, therefore don't have transport to shows, the beach etc. Even without a box there are lots of options at both places. I'm a relaxed type - do a bit of everything but would esp like to get to more hunter trials and just nice days in Devil's Glen or on the beach.

Does anyone know where I might get livery for under €100 per week on the North side of Dublin - pref near Swords? Don't mind if it's DIY, full or grass livery as long as there is somewhere to ride. I've tried the usual riding schools but they are too dear for me. Any help would be great!

Does anyone know of grass livery with access to a decent arena anywhere on the southside of Dublin down to Enniskerry? I only know of Hawthorn stables (also known as "Olga's") in Kilternan but the fields are pretty far from the arena and the arena's small.

    Hi Cookerj,

I have a horse and 2 ponies at Steve's yard - have to move them this weekend frown.gif. Why would you not consider Brooke Lodge or The Paddocks? I don't know anything about the livery yards in this area but Stepaside is a better location for me than Enniskerry. Having said that, the two you mention sound great.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 55 ✭✭cookerj

Hi Tizzyowner, neither Brooke Lodge nor The Paddocks do diy which is what I want. Also Brooke Lodge is very expensive, Paddocks isn't much cheaper.

Sure the grass livery in Olga's in Kilternan is only €25 a wk so I'm going to put my boy there for the summer anyway. You can use the arena and there's a max of 4 horses per field so that suits me!

Kilternan is about 7mins from Steve's (to be exact!), Enniskerry is just over 10mins and has fabulous hacking, I promise they're not as far as you think!

    Hi all,

We have some stables available in a small, private yard in North County Dublin. There is a floodlit, all-weather outdoor arena with some fences for jumping. We also have plenty of grazing available in secure paddocks with automatic drinkers.

Prices will start at €50 p.w. for DIY, but we will be happy to discuss part-livery options (turn out, feeding, lessons etc.) or other variations on a case-to-case basis.

Please PM me for contact details or any further information.
