Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great to have the Dutch back in action.

The last tournament match they played was the third place playoff in 2014? Crazy for such an established nation.

I'm not bothering to include the nations league, because it's a load of shyte.

Jeez, the commentary is hard going

I can't get ITV so had to watch it on RTE. She was doing my head in so much I had to switch the sound off. To be fair to RTE they usually have decent commentary. It's normally those clowns over at TV3 I can't stand to listen to. Maybe with so many games they were scraping the barrel. Even so, there has to be better commentators out there.

Ronnie Whelan just called Stephen Alkin George there.

The shooting in this euros so far is brutal, leaning back when shooting. are they not professional footballers?

Great first half, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

I thought Mary Lou McDonald was doing the commentary for the Austrian game ...

    A staccato Mary Lou.

I was listening to the English game on the radio and thought "huh, Kevin Philips is still going".

    This is a cracking game.

All credit to Ronnie on commentary.. He predicted it with his they (the Dutch) need to keep pressing forward,,, Less than a minute later it was 2-1..

The orangeman - great mettle I says - to concede 2 in quick succession; and then to craft out a gilt edged chance from a great cross by the boy Ruud Gullitt... :pac: to regain the lead :D

let’s find out if the oranje can triumph tonight.

Yes you raise an important point. The orange jersey is clearly more prominent than the blue tonight.

Ireland, playing in green, must be at a disadvantage on grass.
We should embrace the other side of our tricolour and adopt the orange jersey and the style of play that comes with it.

Ah yes, the style of play that comes with it....

We've tried it before, results have been... mixed.

Probably a little known fact that in an interview with RTE after the game, Big Mick accused the Macedonian of rolling around and acting the tart basically.

No the orange has not been fully embraced... they still cling to the green armbands.

Big Mick was dead right! Pure playacting, he barely touched him!

In all fairness, we may not have qualified, but what an amazing foul. His technique is absolutely flawless.

Yes we arent producing those kinds of natural foot (ball) kickers anymore.

Back when Macedonia was FYR Macedonia in 1997 and before it moved to its new Northern location.

Another example of the disaatrous effect of the breakup of Yugoslavia on Irish footballing fortunes.

That must have been the game where we conceded in injury time so had to play Belgium in the play off. I had a Macedonia.

41 international goals for him. I like that genre of footballer- decent at club level, a monster at international football.

Eriksen was another, although better at club than Yarmalenko.

Cmon Czechia! Went to Edinburgh to see us play Scotland during the MON era and the fans were horrible, f*ck 'em. One plucky Celtic nation is enough, should be us!
They're a good side though and think they'll score a couple.
