Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Jack Ma (Alibaba founder) missing

Ma has been in the spotlight recently as China has cracked down on his business empire. In late December, Chinese regulators launched an antitrust investigation into Alibaba, the country's biggest e-commerce company that some refer to as "the Amazon of China." And in November, China had introduced a series of new regulations that put a halt to what would have been the massive initial public offering of Ma's fintech company, Ant Group.

The new rules came weeks after Ma criticized China's financial regulatory system at a conference in Shanghai in October. At the conference, Ma reportedly dismissed the global financial regulations used by China as "an old people's club" and said, "We can't use yesterday's methods to regulate the future."

Ma, who has a net worth of $50.6 billion, was China's richest man until recently.

The reason Ma was stinking rich was that the CCP ensured the Chinese internet was a walled garden free from competition.

As startlingly arrogant a lot of Bay Area and Silicon Valley tech billionaires are, at least their businesses were built in the white-hot heat of open competition and innovation. Jack Ma copied and pasted much of his business models from elsewhere, and happened to be the first Chinese person to do so under the protective umbrella of the party's paranoia about foreign internet domination.

He bit the hand that feeds criticizing the CCP.

Red Square in China is a strange place. One minute they loov you and the next you are Darth Vader. It sets a tone that others in Business will be taking increasing note off.

If the regime will go after the richest man in China then no-one can be safe.

Maybe he's in an interrogation chair https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbTXb6bEMfI

Ah the US news site do like their speculations, he is probably fine. Recall the number of times, they reported that rocket man was missing and presumed dead, and the sister was in charge.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could do the same to the likes of Jeff Bezos?

Jack Ma dead rumours quashed as missing Chinese billionaire makes first appearance since criticising regime

Ma, who was reported to be worth at least £35bn, appeared today in an online video, in which he addressed teachers working in rural China.

His 50-second speech, which was part of an awards ceremony organised by his charity, featured Ma speaking from a room with grey walls, a large painting and floral arrangements.

It was not clear where the room was.
