Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've gone for Max by KO/TKO and Israel by decision.

I think Max v Dustin will be a fantastic fight but I reckon Israel v Kelvin might be a bit of a chess match played out at a slower pace.

Went with Kelvin & Dustin by KO/TKO.

Two great scraps, Kelvin just usually finds a way to get it done, Dustin is a machine since he went up, both could go either way though.

Not thrilled by the overall card but Holloway v Porier is a dream match-up, cannot wait.

The main event will definitely be fight of the year. I don’t see an early finish and both guys always get sucked into a brawl no matter how much they say they won’t.

Max has been amazing since the Conor defeat, and especially the last four fights but I have a feeling Dustin gets it done here. He has the experience at the weight class and hits harder. He should definitely throw in some take downs and not just stand and bang. He will need to finish Max though because I can’t see him out working him to a decision.

Like to see Adesanya win the other title fight but Kelvin might just grind him down.

Both very hard to call and interesting.

Dustin and Israel for me. I've been a Dustin fan so long I just want to see the man wear a belt. He deserves it sooooo much.

The full card, I don't know why the UFC stopped doing those pictures with the whole card on it. I'm a fan of Max and Dustin, great fighters to watch and seem like real good guys too. I'm picking Max & Kelvin by ko/tko.

UFC 236: Holloway v Poirier 2 Main Card:

Interim Lightweight Title: Max Holloway v Dustin Poirier
Interim Middleweight Title: Kelvin Gastelum v Israel Adesanya
Light heavyweight: Eryk Anders v Khalil Rountree Jr
Welterweight: Alan Jouban v Dwight Grant
Light heavyweight: Ovince Saint Preux v Nkita Krylov

UFC 236: Holloway v Poirier 2 Preliminary Card:

Lightweight: Jalin Turner v Matt Frevola
Flyweight: Wilson Reis v Alexandre Pantoja
Bantamweight: Boston Salmon v Khalid Taha
    Welterweight: Max Griffinv Zelim Imadaev

UFC 236: Holloway v Poirier 2 Early Preliminary Card:

Welterweight: Curtis Millender v Belal Muhammad
Bantamweight: Montel Jackson v Andre Soukhamthath
Bantamweight: Brandon Davis v Randy Costa
Women's Strawweight: Lauren Mueller v Polianna Botelho

i agree with you. he does deserve it but unfortunately i just cant see him beating max especially now that max isnt cutting to 145

Would be beaming if Max became champ champ, would be beaming if Dustin became champ, they are gonna go to war, win win fight for me, can not wait!

Ariel says the plan is if Max wins then he fights Khabib in Abu Dhabi in September. I don't know why Max and not Dustin if he wins though.

I think we’ll see a great fight in the main. I’d be leaning strongly towards max getting the finish in 3rd or 4th though.

In the co-main I’d be surprised if Adesanya makes it to the championship rounds. This fight is too much too soon for him I think.

Can’t really see past Holloway. Poirier is a very good fighter but I think Max is just a level above him.

Kelvin looking a bit softer than usual. Thought it slightly concerning on Embedded that he struggled to get motivated for this camp following last fight fall-out.

Max weighing in at 145 and 155. He even looks a bit drained at 155.

Can't see anyway addesanya can deal with Kelvins wrestling. Think Porrier will try take Max to the floor often as well. Nice treble with them an Max Griffin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

can't call it myself, dustin pts or max pts

I'd be surprised if max gets a finish here, this is the best poirier we've seen and after those wars v eddie and justin I'd be surprised if he was stopped
If ever there was a time for dustin it's now...

would love to see kelvin win but think he might lose out on pts, wonder where
his head is after after him admitting he struggled to get motivated for this
I think he might get frustrated but he'll need to get adesanya down or it'll be a one sided pts win imo

I'm dying to see adesanya tested, don't believe he's that good myself but I might be miles out there.

Didn't realize Adesanya was nearly 30 - I thought he was much younger the way he mouths off. Hope Gastelum cleans his clock.

Hard to pick between Max and Dustin. Gut says Poirier gets the job done.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,654 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

Gone with Max and Adesanya by decision.

Max and Dustin should be a belter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

fair bit of confidence here in the Gastelum ko, not sure if its just
ramdom folk or some of the regulars given there's barely that many posting here

I hope it happens, think it'll be a long frustrating night for kelvin but at least
we'll have some idea what adesanya is capable of
it would be a big ask finishing kelvin given he's survived against the best

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,396 ✭✭✭Gamb!t

Really hope max wins but I think Poirier might get the job done with a sneaky KO.
Gastelum to get the decision over Adesanya.

i think max gets the stoppage late in the fight. paddy power has him 9/1 to win in the 4th.

i cant take to kelvin dont know what it is. probably him with cejudos belt at the last fight was pure cringe. i think its an interesting match up but reckon the fight might be a snooze fest with israel grinding out a points win. either way i dont think either have what it takes to beat whittaker

3 of the title fighters go down memory lane. Max is a funny guy.

Good stoppage there, don't care if he protests it, ref was dead right. Great left hook.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

Fair Play ref, no nonsense approach

    Won't grab that fence again

Griffin is dead on his feet here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,435 ✭✭✭Still Ill

Listening to Rogan and Cormier trying to figure out the score with the point taken away was painful :pac:

Nope mines fine. Been a bit patchy all night but saw others on twitter complaining about the same issue so it was a bit of a widespread issue. Been grand the last hour or so

Love watching Krylov. Good that he's back in the UFC these days.

OSP simply gassed. And it's not as if that first round was unusually active. Poor!

Yeah, looked to me like he felt he needed to pour it all into round 1 and hope for the best

I like how Alan Jouban comes out to a hip-hop anthem despite being as white as white can be. Breaking down barriers

Early KO for Rountree in next fight please

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,047 ✭✭✭Jamiekelly

That's what the UFC get for sticking two unranked guys in the main card of a PPV. A complete dud of a fight. Grant should learn how to step forwards instead of being in reverse for 15 minutes straight. Hardly winning over any fans with a performance like that.

This is a shocking PPV outside the two main fights.

    Hugely impressive from Roundtree

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,475 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Rountree looks so much better tonight, going to Thailand was the best decision he ever made.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,475 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Anders’ corner needs to stop this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,795 ✭✭✭dulux99

What does this ref have against Anders? This is a mullering. A fighter doesn't have to be knocked out to have the fight stopped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,256 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Not sure I agree that it should be stopped by the ref. He's defending himself intelligently, he's there mentally, he's just being outclassed.

His corner might think about it though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,381 ✭✭✭Yurt2

Leg getting chewed up. This is like Aldo v Faber.

I know what you're saying but the ref also has an obligation to protect the fighter. The 3 knock-downs in round 2 should have been enough. I may be biased because I backed Rountree to win by KO however :D
