Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sky Sports Action sees Conor Benn take another step up against Samuel Vargas at 147 lbs. Vargas is basic and average, but still may test Benn

Two women’s world title fights at bantam and middle as well

Shannon Courtenay vs Ebanie Bridges at bantam, and Savannah Marshall at middleweight..

    Could be a decent night!

I really enjoy watching Kash Farooq box.
Lovely style, lovely moves, lovely punch selection.
I really think he can go quite far.

Excellent fight. Great action throughout, even though the scorecard should be wide in Farooq's favour.

Courtenay far cleaner and landing far more , but Bridges is scoring. Very tough girls..

Some scrap this. Battering the f**k out of each other. Love her or hate her Courteney is tough as hell to still be in there against somebody who is physically superior to her.

Haven’t scored it rd for rd, but Shannon landed 65-35 for me..

I think the problem with the people who criticized the fight were complaining that these two were far too far down the pecking order to be fighting off for the vacated title. There were other fighters higher in the rankings that should be fighting for the title.

But this is a great fight, and they both deserve huge credit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,877 ✭✭✭squinn2912

What a match up that was. SC very good in 9 and 10 very classy work. I think she’ll take it 7-3

That can happen a bit for vacant belts. Ranked 8&9 these two. Shannon 8.

Correct winner but Bridges is one tough lady. That eye looks gruesome.

6 way too wide for me

6 way too wide for me

    Not at all..

3/4 close rds that could have gone either way..I felt Shannon was edging the rds with more shots landed and cleaner shots landed.

She won in clearly I thought, albeit a very tough and competence fight!

At the time of the fight being announced Courtenay wasn't even ranked with the WBA. Think Bridges was ranked 9th. Shouldn't have ever been approved but we all know why it was.

No I agree she won but I had her winning by 3, 4 at a push but thought 6 was well wide. Some close rounds alright though

Marshall has not really impressed me..

Still the only one to beat Shields, which I love her for!!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,877 ✭✭✭squinn2912

KO number 8 for Marshall I’d say

FFS, I didn’t realise her opponent was 44

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,877 ✭✭✭squinn2912

Total mismatch. That’s the way to pick a stand in. Zero threat or ambition. Makes me think of how naive Warrington or AJ were (or their teams were)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,908 ✭✭✭Morrison J

Marshall is the best boxer in female pro boxing for me.

Men and womens boxing need to standardise the rounds/minutes

Seriously, if Benn wants to progress he should be beating this lad handy..

But, Benn is not near as good as he thinks he is, and he can be wide open and hurt...

I think Benn wins a decision with some scary moments..

You don't tend to see mismatches put to bed with that sort of ease in women's boxing though. Definitely one of the few female boxers to carry genuine power.

I think Benn to stop him mid to late. I think Round 8

I was going to say the womens should be 3 but with 2 minutes they do seem to go all action for the whole round.

I'd be curious to see how mens boxing would look with 2 minutes.

Fair point , but Lindberg seemed to be in survival mode from the outset and carried no threat meaning Marshall had no fear or respect so was able to do as she pleased. But as you say can only put away what is in front of her and she did that very convincingly

NEVER be as good as his old man. But as you say, if he has any aspirations of boxing at a higher level he should be winning this.

I meant to say Benn inside a round, not by decision with a few scary moments...damn typos!
