Basic blackout curtains

Bedroom has standard drapes but also a cheap net curtain on a wire. Is there anywhere to buy a replacement for the net but with blackout material?

Doesn't have to be anything fancy, off the peg would be fine but I can't see anything like this in the shops.

Why not just line the curtains with blackout lining?

We lined all of our curtains with light opaque material. Not an easy option, unfortunately.

I'm after a simple solution, ie blackout curtains that can thread onto a curtain wire, I'm not sure if they are even available but I thought it might be easier and cheaper than buying full curtains, the existing curtains are fine but aren't blackout so was looking for an easy solution.

You could buy the BO lining and just attach it to the top of the curtains. But if you’re the fussy type it’ll look sh1te.

I have net curtains and a black out roller blind between the nets and the curtains

This is very confusing, sorry not sure what the heck you are looking for!

But FWIW I can tell you that a good sleepmask over your eyes will be forever better than the blackout curtains. Worked for me.

The lining comes with the curtain tape already on it.

Open the old curtains, fix the new lining to them, pull them tight again, simple.

How do you open them in the morning or do you plan on leaving the room blacked out all the time.

Good point but I'm not the fussy type, I'd just pull them to one side, although I suppose the ideal solution would be two equal halves.

Nah, won’t work. You’ll end up yanking the wire off the window. Price a roller blind. They’re not that expensive..

Or even a Venetian blind would block most of the light.

Are they ring top curtains or the other type? Either way you can buy blackout curtains- the ring top ones go on the pole behind your normal curtains and you open and shut them both at the same time. The other ones clip on behind the curtains. Harry Corry or guineys sell them

They use normal curtain hooks, but the window is large, 240 x 110 cm. Really trying for an off the peg solution as I'm thinking to get something made u will be very expensive. I see Argos do these in eyelet style, decent price but I'd need the curtain hook type I think
