    If the enigma machine wasn't deciphered , would there of been a different outcome in WW2? Obviously America had the atom bomb so could of flattened Berlin eventually, but ignoring that, would Kursk have had a different outcome? I know the Russian knew of the battle plan? The battle of the Atlantic and so on? What are our thoughts, how big a part did the code breaking make?

    Enigma was originally deciphered by the Polish - and it didn't prevent German invasion.

    WW2 was about the war in the east. Hitler , and the Germans, wanted increased Lebensraum , i.e. living space and they intended to get it from the east. They considered the Slavs inferior. The war in the west was only ever intended to ensure Germany could not be attacked from the rear when it invaded Poland. Things turned out a little differently.

    Once Russia had the material from US it was almost certain to win. it probably would have won even without help from either US or UK as Germany simply did not have the capacity to wage a long war into the east.
