Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't have it long but changed the oil using the manufacturer recommended 10w 30 yamalube, the engine temp gauge went into the red only a mile or two from home, returned home immediately and pumped it out and put in 5w 40(diesel engine oil)which was all I had in my garage and now no more overheating? I'm not a mechanic, is this OK to do?

Why did it overheat? Oil grade doesn't make an engine overheat.
How much did you put in the first time?

    is your xmax liquid cooled?
if so how is the level and and condition of coolant?

Recently changed coolant might mean its airlocked you may need to bleed the air out of the system and refill with coolant.
Does the radiator cap seal properly? Thermostat good?

No harm to have the lighter oil in the engine for a little while but you should replace it with fresh 10w 40 when you get a chance.

what CJ said, those configurations where there is a distance between the engine and radiator are notorious air locks.
Had an MR2 that was a pain to bleed

Drove it round the block this morning without coolant lid on, put it back and did the commute to work. No overheat, thanks for the advice
