Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    If it was in uncirculated condition I could see it going for €350 euros maybe €400 but the condition your note is in would not be worth that much

    You mentioned the edges were not round, are you sure you're not talking about British 20p's with 7 sides?

    very cool its pretty strange with the variation of the edges
    never seen one like it im sure some of the others can help i seen one for sale on some site a while ago for 15k usd :eek:

    the back of the coin seems to look like a 2p is it dirty or a bad scan#

    its a bad scan alright . but as close up as my camera will let me , both coins are same , my brother has 1 an was checking his awell, sill none the wiser:eek:

    Ive looked at these a number of times over the last few days and from personaly seeing one of these coins and from looking at the photos of del parkers coin linked below I honesty do not believe that the photos that you have posted are of a coin that you own

    there are far too similarities between the photos you have posted and del parkers photos
    to the left of the horses head there are three bag marks in both photos
    in the other 85 20p ive seen these marks are not present
    over the horses head is a atmospheric mark which is present in both photos and is not on the one I have seen
    on the harp side of the coin the evidence that the two photos are the same is even stronger
    in éire underneath the é and r there are atmospheric spots where are the same in both photos
    there is also the same spot of dirt in the strings of the harp on both coins

    this was a very poor attempt to fool us
    I was sceptic from the beginning when you said you have two of these coins and your brother has another
    There are only a handful of these coins known to exist

    I keep getting stonewalled trying to find out these values so any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    the two £20 pound you have are worth little over face value because of their condition
    the first on is worth around €35 and the second one is worth around €30 and would probably take along time to sell at that, best off taking it to the central bank really and get €25.40 for it
    the confederate note tbh honest i dont have muck knowledge about, i know there are alot of fakes around, most were made in the 1970's for gift shops and its hard enough to tell the difference, non the less if this one is real it wont be worth a whole lot due to its condition unless its a rare variation which i dont know, but if its a standard one it would be worth around €10 as the ones in good condition usually sell for €20-30

    The £10, £5 and £1 are worth little over face value because the are circulated
    the £10 is worth around €15 maybe €20, £5 is worth around €10 and the pound is worth around €3
    The £100 and £20 lady lavery notes are two very nice notes
    both in great condition
    the £100 looks to be in extremely fine condition with one centre crease and a nice year 1963, would be worth €600-€750
    The £20 looks to be about uncirculated and is signed Redmond which was only the case in 1954 and 1955
    I saw one very similar to this sell recently for €300

    peaceful if this is some elaborate joke then take this as a warning that no time wasting will be tolerated on this forum.I've looked at the photo's from the link that Anthony has posted up and the coins in those photo's are in my opinion the very same as the ones you have posted up.Just to point out also that on the Del Parker website that all rights are reserved.For now your post will be edited until you can explain the similarities.

    Hello everyone. I'm looking for advice on a pair of €100 notes from 2002 and a pair of Irish €500 notes. Inspired by this page. I'm wondering what I could reasonably expect for these notes and what would be the best way to go about selling them. I already looked at banknotes.com and couldn't find any more on these Irish euro notes so any help would be appreciated.

    There was somebody on R T E radio this week saying that 100 euro notes with t the first letter of the number were worth 120 euro in perfect condition.Anyone know something about it?

    Although the notes are rare, very few people are looking to buy them unless they are in near mint or uncirculated condition
    Another reason so few are looking to buy these notes is the feared collapse of the euro

    Hey all, I was over in the Middle East a while back, and while in Petra and Amman I bought some coins off street vendors. They claimed that they were ancient Roman and Greek coins, and while they certainly look the part, I wouldn't be surprised if they were minted that day in vendor's back kitchen! Anyway, they were quite cheap so I said I'd take the risk and buy a few. I've had them in a drawer for a while now and thought I'd like to get them authenticated. Does anyone have any suggestions on reputable dealers/valuers, who won't charge me a small fortune, or worse, buy them off me for a tenner only for me to see him on Antiques Roadshow in a year selling them on for a few grand! I'm in Kilkenny, but am also in Dublin quite a bit. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Also, while I'm at it, I'd like to build up a collection of ancient coins and artefacts. Any advice on where I'd go online to learn about starting such a collection? Thanks.

    I have managed to get my hands so some €500 notes and am just wondering how I got about selling/auctioning them? I obviously want to maximise my return so I don't think I will sell/auction all of them at once!

    I have gotten my hands on Irish issued notes (starting with 'T'), German issued notes (starting with 'X') and a few other letters which I have not looked into their origins. Some of these €500 notes are in pristine condition and some are slightly worn. I don't know if it is only certain country issues that have value? Obviously, the quality will also have bearing on the value.

    I'm hoping someone can help me with an inquiry. My Aunt has in her possession a mint Lady Lavery £5 note from the 70's. I dont have exact details to hand ATM, what makes the note unique is the fact that the two serial numbers are different. this is a genuine note but non circulated as it was spotted in branch and not given to any member of the public. I can provide a pic later.

    Hi everyone. I'm totally new to the whole collectibles thing. I don't actually have a clue but there are a load of old coins in the family and I've been wondering what they would be worth. I just picked 2 out that seemed to me to be a bit more rare than the rest. There's a lot of old pennys and florins along with other foreign currency. Some of them are from the late 1800's. Here are the 2 I thought I'd ask about.

    I have a rare £1 " Ploughmans" Bank of Ireland Bank Note dated 3-7-1939.

    I was wondering if anyone might know the value of such a note, it is in good condition.

    Error coins are difficult to value, its all down to what someone would be willing to pay, a photo would help

    Give the piece missing from the top left hand corner around the €250 mark would be a fair price for it
    the colour looks to be a bit too strong, was it the lighting the photo was taken in or has it been washed?

    Uncirculated..? SO the issue letter has no bearing and it doesn't matter if the notes are Irish, German, etc.?

    the larger one on the left is a silver mexican 8 reales piece from 1894
    in its condition it would be worth around €25-€30

    The smaller one is as you can read from the coin, an east india one rupee 1840, which is not an easy coin to find but because of the hole is worth around €15

    Irish notes have a T serial number
    These are the only ones with a real collectible value if they are uncirculated
