Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Match odds:

    Georgia 23/10
    Draw 7/4
    Ireland 7/5

Critical day in our qualification group as we take on Georgia, hours before group rivals Denmark and Switzerland face each other.

Duffy has given the team a boost by seemingly winning his race to be fit, but questions remain about which players will start at LB and up front respectively. Line-ups should be in shortly.

Georgia were unfortunate not to beat us when we drew 1-1 with them two years ago and will fancy their chances of getting another result.

What way do you see today’s game going? I will be optimistic and say we’ll edge it by a goal. Maybe Connolly to score on debut.

Ireland to win 1-0 or 2-1. I hope Aaron Connolly gets his first cap.

    Team is in:

Doherty gets the nod at LB. Connolly as an impact sub. Collins starts up top. Fair enough line-up. Come on, Ireland!

Plenty of the lads on form and it's been a while since I've seen such good options on the bench.

Here's hoping for something good today.

    Why

He was the best player on the pitch v Switzerland.
    Just don't rate him.
    Watch him get the winner

Getting nervous now. A win would be massive for our hopes. Have to take the chances that come our way.

1-0 win for Ireland, I'd say.

He's in the team fully on merit. Come on lads, going to be tough. I'll take every bounce and dodgy decision going please.

Hourihane has a wand of a left foot.

Can't afford to be feckless giving the ball away like that.

Im kind of glad that effort didnt go in, if we score early again we'll look to shut up shop ..and I dont trust us to shut up shop for 85mins against these.

I hope Ireland never score a goal, because they won't be able to defend the opposition from scoring.

No presence in midfield at all, as usual.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,475 ✭✭✭pgj2015

the georgian should have been booked for diving there, if it wasnt a penalty then it should have been a booking for diving as he was clearly looking for the peno.

Georgia starting to pose some problems.

This is brutal stuff. We're lucky the Georgians have been poor around the box.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Shocking. Just hoof ball ****e as usual. Coleman with another hail mary.

Michael Flatley usually enters the stage a few minutes into the performance. Connolly is the Flatley the Georgian manager was referring to. Connolly will be the greatest Irish player since Stephen Hunt.

Robinson is a kinda nothing player. He hasn’t the beating of a man and is poor in possession. His body language alone says he’s no belief in taking a man on

This is going to be a real struggle isn't it..
Georgia are playing well and keeping possession well but lacking killer pass.
We don't seem to be putting them under any pressure at all.
I still think somehow we will sneak it one nil...

Last 4 attacks have ended at Robinson’s feet. He really needs to do better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,500 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

    This is ****ing dross.

He looked really good when he first broke onto the scene with Ireland, but he's not done a whole lot the last couple of games. He does look like he's lacking confidence.

Georgia look far more threatening than us. So poor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Robinson giving it away too cheaply. Hendrick sloppy on the ball. Worrying stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,318 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Collins has barely had the ball...

Can’t help but think getting Jack Byrne in at HT for Hendrick would give us a lot more creativity and more attacking threat

Whelan's passing has been dreadful. Doherty's run there into the box is why we need him starting every game, even if he has to play in midfield.

Whelan kicks a ball out over the line.
