Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

But if i provide a service, and people pay me for it. You better believe I am going to ask for more money next time. Do you expect to do the same job forever for the same pay, do you not expect a pay rise?
It is the exact same thing, yes its expensive, but I am willing to pay it, you don't have to, and if you want to hold a protest more power to you.
But coming into every bloody thread and moaning about price is doing nothing for anyone.

I agree with your general logic, and people set out to make a profit and all that. But this is on a different scale altogether. €190 for a seating ticket for what I presume is a 3 hour show should be criminal. If I saw a tout selling a €190 ticket, I would be fuming at the system that lets them get away with it. I know it’s supply/demand etc. but we the fools for paying it. I remember spending €100 on an Ennio Morricone ticket, and whilst I enjoyed it, it still crosses my mind that I have just spent €100 for about 2 hours entertainment. But for E John, it’s almost double it. They sit down to decide the price of tickets, knowing the general price of tickets. And they come up with €190. That is extortionate and pure fleecing. You might be willing to pay it, but that doesn't mean it's right. Maybe that's where the actual problem lies.

U2 tics were up on e215... seems to be the going rate for "legends". I agree, its way too expensive.

Weren't they the most expensive "normal" tickets?

I'm trying for my sister. Even at those prices it's going to be another Tout-Rout (My term, you can use it). Will sell out in under 5 mins my prediction. Let's see....

Tickets were all gone at 9am. I didn't even get into the queue.

Went in there out of curiosity to see if the prices were as high as mentioned on the thread. Tickets on sale. No problem getting tickets.

  • Site Banned Posts: 880 ✭✭✭whiteshorts

There are a few €156 and €181 tickets left but there were NO €96 tickets 2 seconds after 9am!
Must have had 2 tickets at that price. Wouldn't pay €181 for Block K row 34 :0

I managed to get two 156 euro tickets (As much as it killed me to buy them. But they're for someone else so...). But was still a tout rout. I didn't even look but I'm assuming that Ticketmaster... I mean Seatwave..... are selling them for 600 each at this stage. Gangsters

I got the seventh row of Block D for the second night. Delighted with that. I nearly pulled the trigger on one in Block E for the first night, but it was further back than what I got, and the second show was announced before I bought it, so that worked out fine.

Agreed the tickets are very expensive but if you are a fan and he puts on a good show i think is worth it. I went to see Phil Collins last year in the aviva at 130 a ticket and it was well worth the money. Couldn't get any tickets for the 3 arena so decided to buy some for Munich!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,525 ✭✭✭Mike Guide 69

I'd say there will be more €96 tickets rolled out over the next few months, no way am I paying €156+ , i'll sit tight and be patient with this, fingers crosssed for Paul Simon tickets next week .....ahem.....

  • Site Banned Posts: 880 ✭✭✭whiteshorts

2nd gig and the 1st one isn't sold out yet .
Noticed there were no €96 tickets for the Thursday night either.

I dont see how it is worth it ,his tickets were half the price last year in the Marquee in Cork which is half the capacity of the 3arena.
163 euro to sit up in the rafters for this tour is extortion.

Its a scandalous cash grab and whats more the concerts are 18 months away .

Is €156 not the cheapest? Or are they just the cheapest left?

If you look at the VIP tickets available, they scale up to 875 per ticket. No way will these sell, and they'll end up back on the market close to the gig.

There are 3 types of tickets available, leaving out the exclusive VIP shiney programme type of tickets :p

    €181, €156 and €96

  • Site Banned Posts: 880 ✭✭✭whiteshorts

And there was probably only 2 tickets at €96 considering some tickets at €181 are up in the gods as well!

I love Elton and I've seen him 6 times. I have seen him twice in the 3 arena and the prices were a fraction of this tour. I'm going to have to pass as I don't know where I will be in the world in June 2019!! Very frustrating. :(

Plenty of tickets still on sale on ticket master for 156 and 181euro if anyone wants them.

It's definitely the most expensive ticket I've ever bought. I think we can expect this to be on a par with The Red Piano when it comes to production levels, though, which may explain the increased cost, but the "American model" of VIP packages and pricing is definitely creeping in now in earnest.

There is a new covers album out of some of Eltons songs .
The songs are covered by some famous people.
Most of the covers are brutal but Tiny Dancer by Florence and the Machine is quite beautiful.

Find it amazing that they can sell tickets for a gig that is over 2 years away. Surely breaching some sort of ruling. If there's no ruling, there should be!

    Its outrageous really.

For his London gigs AXS are rolling out their flash seats ticket type.
Makes it hard to resell the ticket if your plans change in the next 2 years which it will for alot of people.

I'm guessing this is the Elton John FYBR tour thread

Anyway he's back in action tonight in the states and has a massive year ahead with gigs all over the States and Europe both Arenas and Stadiums

Looking forward to hopefully seeing him in Cork in July after having tickets for the postponed 3Arena gigs since 2020

    1982, probably 7 or 8 quid:

    1984, £9.50;

1985 £25, but they did throw the likes of Queen, Bowie, the Who, McCartney and a few others in:

2019 .... well let me just say inflation had taken hold of Elton by 2019:

    Let's see what 2022 (Swansea) and 2023 (Glasgow) brings....4///6

Nice of sir Elton to not include a warm up act to his Cork show

    Stadium opening at 6pm now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,289 ✭✭✭fafy

Thousands still left unsold for Cork gig, and its been onsale for almost 9 months, they will never shift them at those ridiculous prices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,910 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Yeah and then having no support act is not helping things

Those VIP packages are some rip off too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,289 ✭✭✭fafy

Standing, beyond the halfway line, so way way back, costs €103, someone really got this, totally wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,866 ✭✭✭hynesie08

It was 106 for Paul Simon, and they put 2 **** off towers in the way, inevitably enough people have bought tickets to justify the prices, since it's only the terrible seats at the back available.

Nice owl documentary on the way

It's anyones guess when this tour (ie his concert career) will actually end

Atm last date is 8th July 2023 in Stockholm Sweden. If I was to guess I'd say a show in Wembley Stadium that summer to 'end it'

Yep - I'm on the Rosslare ferry later on and heading to Silverstone after Elton tomorrow night

He won't have any support and based on other recent shows he'll be on shortly after 7

    For Cork

    Doors 6pm

    Gig starts 8pm sharp

Got a premium level ticket but not expecting much from it tbh. More than likely only indoor bar/food and toilet facilities

He was excellent last night in Swansea. Best I've seen him since 2 nights in Leeds in 1984.

He has adapted his voice for the songs, and only does songs his voice can handle.

Certainly better than at the 3Arena in 2019. Davey Johnstone wasn't there that night though. Maybe Elton's more confident with him around. I also think he's lost a bit of weight since then.

I could throw up the setlist if anyone's interest - equally don't want to spoil it for anyone heading off to see him tomorrow.
