MSC wardrobe makeover

Hi In two of the rooms there are wardrobes which are there since the house was built 20 years ago. They are mdf floor to ceiling beige about 40” wide. I was to give them a makeover rather than replace. I was thinking sliding doors although they are narrow for that - the door opening out is a space problem. Any suggestions…
