Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone received their email tickets yet?

Has anyone received their email tickets yet?

Seems Ticketmaster don't email tickets anymore. You are supposed to get their app and use your phone. The tickets are linked to your account. See this excerpt from confirmation email. You should check you got this.

"Your eTickets are available now. Please do not contact us unless you cannot view your eTickets on your mobile device. Your phone is your ticket. Your tickets will not be emailed to you.

Locate and view your eTickets - click Go Mobile or use the Ticketmaster app.

    Download Ticketmaster iOS app here
    Download Ticketmaster Android app here"

If you are worried that your phone packs in on the day, or that the Ticketmaster app crashes, print a screenshot of the tickets as back-up.

Actually, I may have explicitly chosen this option!

What ye all think of malahide as a venue ?? I went to see arcade fire there and the sound was atrocious.

Does it take long to get back into town after the gig? What time will it wrap up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,960 ✭✭✭NewbridgeIR

If I drive, have I hope of parking anywhere near the venue?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,787 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

I wouldn't bother driving to Malahide, Id say it be mental busy. I'm planning to park up near a dart station and just get the train.

Parking anywhere in the town itself is madness as it will just take you an age getting to the car, and driving away too.

My advice would be to park in Seabury, it's only a ten minute walk after the gig and then drive home via the Estuary Rd towards Swords, very little traffic that way after a gig.

In fact for the last gig I attended there when I walked down to Seabury the chipper (Angelo's I think) was empty. So for that extra 5 mins walk you won't have to queue for a decent bag of chips (compared to what's on offer at the gig at least) should you want one either.

Never been to this venue, do they do a front pit do you know? Not a "golden circle" where you have to pay extra, well, same thing really but without paying.

Wasn't one at LG but I really liked it as you could easily walk down either side of the crowd and work your way in from there and the food vans were at the side too and so there wasn't a huge trek for anyone no matter where they were.

Could be totally different for The Cure though but here's a video which pans around and gives a good idea of what the layout was like at anyway:

I should really unfollow this thread as have decided to go to Slane and everytime I read posts in here I start thinking I've made the wrong choice. Arrgghhhhhhh!

Was at gorillaz last year and hopped on a bus after (€10) into town moved pretty quickly. Not sure what time it finished exactly but given it's a residential area won't be too late.

Anyone still not got their tickets yet? Thinking I need to contact Ticketmaster and get them switched to an e-ticket.

I got them ages ago. I paid for and received gift type tickets. Maybe that's why?

The 4 nights just played in Sydney might skew this. They were a bit experimental over there playing some lesser-known b-sides. After the 1st show they moved the b-sdes set to the start of the set as they seem to have lost the crowd on night one (from a few reviews I read).

I'd say this gig will be back to the normal set though. The Sydney gigs were very specific.

the sydney sets were a Disintegration anniversary set
the B-sides were all distintegration related
Great album but they better not pull that at Malahide
(my mate is a diehard fan and is adamant it will be a regular mixed set)

    cheers

  • Registered Users Posts: 172 ✭✭skD13

Yeah. I'd put money it'll be the regular set. The Disintegration gig won't work in Malahide. Some of the crew with me won't know much past the hits. The regular set is full of those, plus the chance of some Seventeen Seconds/Faith/Pornography numbers for me :)

I think the best reference point for this show is the Bestival live album or thereabouts.

Will we get some new stuff I wonder

The Cure have a live stream on now from the the Sydney Opera House as it's 30 years to the day that Disintegration was released.

    It's on You Tube.

  • Registered Users Posts: 600 ✭✭✭DepecheHead101

Proper buzzing for this now, sandwiched in between the CL final and Download the next weekend!

Hopefully the weather is dry, and we're in a part of the crowd that feels like dancing as much as we do.

Not worried about getting the classics. They always happen. Would love Burn and Hanging Gardens Robert, ta!

The sound on the live stream is incredible!!!

    Aye, great sounding!

I appreciate Simon Gallup's refusal to age.

Thought I didn't really know anything about The Cure. Was thinking of picking up a ticket for this next week. I set up playlist on spotify to coincide with setlists. Couldn't believe all the tunes that I knew. Then I remembered that I had bought a type of best of album about 20 years. Didn't think I had listened to it much but obviously time fades the memory. It was a singles album - standing on a beach.
Other than the 15 or songs on that album, I've come in to some great music in the past week. Burn, Lovesong, Lullaby. Plainsong is a brilliant gig opener. And my favourite - Pictures of you is just beautiful.
    Can't wait.

do yourself a favour and listen to Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me,
A brilliant diverse album with so many class songs

Also "the Cure in Orange" is a classic live video
its on youtube in parts (the 1987 version)

    cheers

And then dive into the earlier stuff - start with Faith ("Primary" would've been on that best of) then go Seventeen Seconds (feat "A Forest") and finally Pornography. It was after this they took a turn into more poppy material.

    I'd say, "no."

Not queing at all, to be honest. The nature of the gig would indicate a day out in the park with a lot of crowd movement between acts. That and the fact that I've been to too many big gigs in Ireland recently where for Cure's main age demographic you've just got prudes with their phones up front. I'd rather hang back a bit and find a spot where's people are actually singing and enjoying themselves .

Hopefully this won’t be a washout!! Absolutely lashing here today and it’s forecast for the week.

Met Eireann radar and AccuWeather have both improved considerably since yesterday, for what it's worth. Bit of drizzle around opening time, but should hopefully be long gone before Smith's hair pops up on stage.

Just got them switched to an e-ticket. Wasn't any hassle.

Re: the weather. Looks like it'll be raining up to the gig so the field will probably be very mucky. Wellies or a good pair of Docs are in order I would say!

This is what it has on the MCD public information notice for the Malahide Castle gigs for travelling by car:

    BY CAR
PLEASE NOTE THAT CAR PARKING AT THE VENUE IS LIMITED. CAR PARKS OPEN 1 HOUR BEFORE THE GATES OPENING TIME ON YOUR TICKET. VEHICLES WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED THROUGH THE BACK ROAD ENTRANCE.
Plan your approach to Malahide Castle based on the following:
    • Car parking at Malahide Castle is limited and traffic and parking delays are inevitable - you are strongly
advised to use public transport or carpool. There may be delays leaving the car park following the event
    • We strongly recommend you plan your journey in advance allowing plenty of travel time to and from the venue.
    • Plan your route in advance and check the AA Roadwatch website for reports on traffic, road works, delays etc. on your route.

I'd like to bring my own water and food for the day rather than eat junk on the day. Is there any restriction on bringing your own lunch etc ?

Only realised this week the Twilight Sad were supporting. Didn't follow as I don''t have a ticket. I'd highly recommend anyone going to make sure they see them. They should be way bigger than they are.
