That cranky group who sent around the unsolicited emails (how they got the emails was not explained, as company law only allows release of name and address) were humiliated in the vote for the board, but still objected when the President suggested an informal one minute meeting among the board to elect the president, a vote which has to be unanimous. The dissident board member made a barbed withdrawal of his veto against Bernadette, which prompted the suggestion from the outgoing President of letting the board have a minute to elect Bernadette. However, some of the cranks objected to that, and I just went home then. Crankiness, some unimportant argument over the Gordon Bennett Committee, was the source of the dispute. Their disruption over the year, meant sponsors were lost. One of the objectors had control over some of the sponsorship.

Awkward people like that should form their own group, and not disrupt the club.
