And so it continues , the State sponsored abuse of its citizens , in conjunction with the HSE Management . Pity she settled for a "Confidentially Clause " although I totally understand why she has . Will any heads roll ? . Will they FCUK . Sickening, that the drug company gets off scott free , but we know that they are untouchable in this country because of Political protection .

Brief Summary: GSK had a swine flu vaccine which caused Narcolepsy and Aoife Bennett took them to court over it and settlement was reached today.

What really disgusts me is this line
"Approximately 100 other children and young adults must now await the outcome of their own legal cases, which the State insists must be taken on an individual basis."

if you can't trust the pharmaceutical conglomerates who can you trust?

The state spending millions to drag them through the high court for over 20 days. Four senior barristers. All for what? Pay out anyway. Anyway it's only our money. And these kids were destroyed by the vaccine. They need all the help they can get.

I would imagine they settled specifically to avoid a determination of liability.

Companies acting like GSK just give ammo to anti-vaxxers the way they did.

    Fcuk Putin. Glory to Ukraine!

Did the vaccine actually cause the issues? Or is it the opinion of a Judge or something? Is there a study to prove this? This case could open a Pandora box of similar cases and payouts and cost everyone in the long run.

I’m always skeptical of a settlement where the defendant doesn’t have to admit liability, but it is a fact that the girl isn’t well.

Hope she can live any form of a normal life.

There is strong evidence accepted in the medical community that this particular vaccine is associated with an increased risk of narcolepsy.

There are several other peer reviewed papers as well.
I'm very pro-vaccination in general by the way, but that doesn't mean ignoring genuine issues, and I believe the girl in question probably did suffer this as a result of this particular vaccine.

Having said that I can also understand why the State fought it - an admission of liability here would result in massive, massive costs. Hopefully she has been fairly compensated.

The ideal system as has been pointed out in the media is probably one of a non-adversarial compensation scheme. However facts still have to be established (i.e. proof of the person's condition) and some people would probably regard that as somewhat adversarial in itself.

Absolutely caused by vaccine . Withdrawn by numerous countries when discovered but of course HSE lagged behind as usual . Drug companies should NEVER be offered immunity for drugs that harm people IMHO .

Is the state allowed to settle a case and pay compensation without disclosing the settlement figure? It is taxpayers money after all!

Its shocking and disgusting that that the hse has settled this case and insisted that the remaining victims will have to bring individual cases against the health services if they wish to seek compensation. There are children suffering and taking coctails of medication just to stay awake as a result of this vaccine.

The only winners here are the lawyers who milked this case for the last 10 years and settled only weeks before a court ruling. It was a dirty tactic just to avoid paying out to the rest or the victims.

So it seems that there is another narcolepsy case being taken and will come before the high court in June 2020. It will cost the taxpayer a fortune if they attempt to defend against each one of these victims. Simon Harris said he was pleased with the outcome of the case. Think about how these families must feel with young children suffering and watching Simon Harris patting himself on the back!
