Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Funny enough I'm keeping the daughter away from the geegees for as long as I can! I've put a hurley in her hand instead

Are you the first man to bring a Hurley to west Clare? You wouldn't want to show up at the KIB pitch with it or you'll be banned outta there for life :D

Earlier I posted a pic of a bull calf from a maternal bull. Here is a calf the same age out of a terminal bull (queenshead altea). Big difference between the two calves

I hear you on that one. Maybe we'd be better off just going with terminal and paying well for replacements. I'd prefer to have a closed herd though

Majority of heifers this year calved.
3x PB hf being kept along with two late calved cows that had bulls.

Only enough fodder to go around!

Ya have to agree with kovu. Looks the makings of a good beef heifer but she don't look feminine enough in the head for breeding imo. But you have savage stock lad. Was her mother a good cow or what your rationale?

She is out of landais and a sim/lim first calf heifer, that and I always wanted a blonde cow was my reason for keeping her. She was very muscly when younger but lost it as she stretched out, so I was thinking she might work out. That's an interesting point about the head I never paid any attention to that before.

If it was me and I thought she'd have enough milk, I'd breed from her. She'd have to right in the hips too. Start off with something very easy calving.

Ya, like SMB club. A huge club and they treat the big ball as if it were satan's making. Sad really. I have a young relative, who's mad into both hurling and football and he has to go to a neighbouring parish to play football.

land would be fairly poor so don't expect a massive crop but there is 25 acres of it so will have to round up a good few beasts for it

not relying on it for feed either as have feed left over from last year as well as this years crop so have 3 times more fodder than I need but I might try and up the numbers of stock on the farm

This fella decided to enter this world with his best assets first, at 3am, needless to say I had to wake my vet for assistance.

2 1/2 year old SH/CH cross heifer, thank God she was quiet......
