I would pointless having invested free time from work to watch matches only for UEFA not bother to deliver the end product, next season grand but that's the plan isn't it.

Would be right silly to tank the Prem as some sort of goodwill gesture to the fans.

Reservations over how lads behind the scenes in football conduct themselves is nothing new, devious to the core. I swear most who claim wish to have their club suffer for making this unique play to increase revenue should have ran a mile from these mega wealth clubs ages ago! see how it all plays out anyway it's a very bold move.

They wont risk this seasons competitions - too much dosh in TV rights etc.

Well done to the Board. Must've been Petr's influence to at least some extent.

Plenty of young supporters there, the same young supporters Perez doesn't believe exist anymore.

A great moment for the fans of the club

Big improvement needed second half if we are to get 3 points here

Tis been more interesting off the pitch tonight, performance not worthy of a super league.

    12. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,505 ✭✭✭Killinator

      Terrible terrible performance.

The only excuse I would grant was the CL midweek and City at the weekend draining the team.
But that's not good enough at all.

    13. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,563 ✭✭✭✭peteeeed

      very very very flat performance

    14. Registered Users Posts: 1,198 ✭✭✭Garzorico

Absolute dross. No attacking intent at all. This false 9 lark is just that, a lark. I lost count of the number of times the centre backs passed it into the feet of a teammate in midfield under severe pressure from an opposition player and then loose the ball. Shocking performance. Players don’t appear motivated at all - dare I say it (and I say it only half in jest) but it looked like some of them have downed tools.

On another note it’s games like this is why the Americans want the ESL - boring 0-0 draws do not attract customers.

    15. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Beat City, leave the ESL and then draw with Brighton in a game that we should have lost.

      What a s**t show.

It's typical Chelsea after a really good performance.

Was the same against WBA when we had beaten Atelti.

We can't string consistently good performances together and it's a reason, why with this squad that we'll win f**k all.

Tuchel might get get a tune out of some of the players but if you can beat City and play them off the park for 70mins and then be championship level quality performance against Brighton, something has to give.

I actually put a some of it on the team he picked but when we needed a goalz Havertz has to bury his chance, himself and Zieych were absolutely awful tonight, not the other 9 were much better.

Huge chance to solidify top 4 lost tonight and we've West Ham at the weekend and City in the PL soon.

True...but at the weekend 2 of those 'super' clubs played in the FA Cup semi final and it wasn't exactly a game for the ages!

2 quality teams playing each other is not a recipe for fantastic football every time, plenty of Super Sundays in the past which were boring as paint to watch

    17. Registered Users Posts: 1,198 ✭✭✭Garzorico

I can’t see us getting CL football next season unless we win it. We have only won 15 games and also had 10 draws so far this season. The only positive is we are playing good teams apart from Fulham til the end of the season and that seems to suit us better.

Ah yes, but watching Messi v Neymar playing badly beats AN Journeyman v Neymar playing badly.

You’d have to wonder what the clubs were up to with the ESL after such an easy quick climb down. CEO wars most likely. Makes for great TV.

with the couple of hours of chaos before the game that was a tough game to play , even the Brighton manger after the game said how strange the day was .

Doesn't bode well for the Real Madrid game ...

They players should have been buoyed. So disappointing given what was at stake

Brighton will be kicking themselves they didn’t win it .

In a lot of games Havertz gets right on my wick, like last night .

Ya, he's not anywhere consistent in his performances and his finishing is absolutely awful.

He's not a CF and I hope to jesus he isn't playing there ever again.

I'd sooner play Tammy or Giroud up top than Havertz.

What's unbelievably worrying is our top scorer this year has 6 PL goals.

Theres teams in the bottom 3 with better stats than that.

    24. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Barr

Give me Giroud any day of the week !

Did ye see David Moyes was there last night . He probably skipped out of the Bridge based on that performance

    25. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

We've no gimmes in the last 6 games.

Think the dropped points to WBA and Brighton will cost us top 4.

We're going to need probably 12-15pts to finish top 4ans i cant see it with this group and the last 6 games.

    26. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭Tubbs4

      West ham should win
      Fulham should win
Man city depends on if they still in champions league
      Arsenal should win
      Leicester draw
      Aston villa win

13 points handy. The game against West ham if we win should set the mark.
If only we had a striker who could score starting games.

    27. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

      No should, in football.

We should have beaten WBA and Brighton but he made too many changes and the subs were off the wall.

It's our own fault if we don't get 4th for taking 1 or from those 6pts available.

Win both and we'd be home and dry in 4th.

We should have loads of goals as we bought a brilliant free scoring striker ;) . If they don't beat the teams europa Cup if we are allowed in next year.

At least the women's team are now 3 games away from winning the league.

I wonder will the punishment be a fine or a transfer ban or some such, would be a major move for UEFA to ban those 12 teams from CL games next season as it would devalue the competition greatly. You could guarantee PSG or Munich winning it next season.

It would also quite likely lead to the formation of a "friendly" competition involving those 12 clubs which would not be good overall for UEFA you would have thought.

    31. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭Tubbs4

I say a fine at most or they lose too much money. Can't really punish the players as none came out in support of it.

    32. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,200 ✭✭✭hots

It's difficult to even fine them, what rules were broken? What they can do is enforce new stricter rules to stop it happening again.

A little bit of room to work with. Bad when fighting for 4th and rival is West ham.

Also have Liverpool in a bizarre season with spurs being spurs.
Arsenal look lost at this stage.

      Roll on Tuesday.

      Never a red.

If you told me at the start of the season that we would be fighting neck and neck with West Ham with 5 games to go, I would have soiled myself!

We've the toughest run in of all the teams anyway.

I'd take finishing 8th and winning the CL anyway.

We seem to be muck against the lower teams and decent against the higher teams. Fulham could be our hardest game

10 pts from 5 games should see us over the line.

Buuuuut, one game at a time is the only way to handle it at this stage.

Start with Tuesday night, avoid a defeat away to Madrid and do um at the Bridge.

Wonder what sort of side we'll side tonight, Tuchel was quite conservative against West Ham with Dave as the wing back, I hope we bring the game to Madrid I don't think we should fear them at all

I'd love to see the following

      Mendy
      Dave Christensen Rudiger
      James Kante Jorginho Chilwell
      Mount Havertz Werner

Silva might well get the nod over Christensen due to his vast experience, but other than that I really hope the lineup isnt that different, Kovacic is a doubt I'd much prefer him to Jorginho, and I'd prefer Mount in midfield again but I know that won't happen

    50. Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,526 ✭✭✭RichT

Need to get a goal (or 2)

0-0 will be no good to us at all

Absolutely no advantage in playing 2nd leg at home in this fan free time. Think I'd prefer a 2-1 loss than a 0-0.

I'm convinced this semi-final will be decided on away goal(s)

Not a fan of Dave at wing back

He’s not quick and wont stretch them the same as Reece James and CHO would

Crosses from deep arent really an option with Werner and Pulisic up top

Dont know why Havertz isnt starting when he got zero at the weekend

      Hopefully Tuchel proves me wrong
