Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Such a HSV thing to have a squad of 20+ players and the one player who tests positive for COVID is the one player who is irreplaceable.

Hopefully it's not a bad case and he is back fully fit after the international break.

The legendary Dr Peter Krohn, former HSV president and general manager back in the 70s, passed away yesterday. He was one of the most enigmatic and eccentric personalities German football has seen. Looking back now he was truly ahead of his time in some regards and his marketing ideas turned HSV from a club heavily in debt in the early 70s to one of the strongest by the time he departed.

He is the one who brought Keegan to Hamburg which was a huge surprise as he was being linked with much bigger clubs, but Krohn lured him to Hamburg with a record deal that he managed to finance. He also signed Felix Magath on a whim after seeing him play in the 2nd division on Sportchau (German MOTD). He went on to be a club legend of course. 9 of the starting 11 that he signed as general manager went on to win the league the year after he departed the club.

Some of the bizarre marketing ideas he had include bringing elephants to the stadium as a half time attraction and he also introduced the pink jerseys as a way to attract more female fans to the Volkspark, which he claims worked as no German club had more female fans in the stadium than HSV that season I remember reading.

A real legend. A book about his career is something that really needs to be written at some point.

FYP, in fairness I do have a lot of time for them as My ex Father in Law and most of my regulars in Eppendorf were HSV fans.

I've never been more certain there is a meeting between the teams every August and we call dibs on 4th.

So Hamburg, Schalke and Koln in 2.BL next season is becoming more and more likely. With the possibility that Hertha could be in the relegation playoff. There's going to be quite a few big clubs down there next season.

Huge weekend for Dortmund, beating 3rd place Wolfsburg away and then 4th place Frankfurt lost to Leverkusen. 2 points separate 3rd-5th now

RB Leipzig have lost their sporting director and it looks like they will lose both centre backs and manager in the summer now as well.

BVB will have to sell a few players.

Not much hope of any team taking the title off Munich next season by the looks of it.

The 89th minute consolation goal from FCN helped set a new record for goals scored on a matchday. Previous record for 45 set on matchday 34 in 96/97. The 89th minute goal tonight was the 46th of this matchday.

Lewandowski equals Mullers record one game left to break it.

He has to win the Ballon d'Or after being robbed of it last year.

He missed a sitter in the 80th minute that could have broken the record. He'll have nightmares about this if he doesn't score next week.

Horrible result for Eintracht, losing 4-3 to Schalke. Looks like that's their top four hopes over. They've dropped off a lot the last few weeks and I have to wonder if that would have happened had Hütter not been confirmed as the new Gladbach coach.

Hertha are safe after their goalless draw with Koln. Arminia Bielefeld, Werder Bremen and Koln all in danger of joining Schalke in the relegation and relegation play-off spot in the final round of fixtures next Saturday:
    15. Arminia - 32
    16. Werder - 31
    17. Koln - 30
    18. Schalke - 16 (R)

    Fixtures:

    Stuttgart vs Arminia
    Werder vs Monchengladbach
    Koln vs Schalke

I reckon Werder may fall into the automatic relegation place. They have been on a dismal run.
