Heavy rain from Tuesday Night to Thurdsay Night

I've classed this as moderate as it takes little to cause a flood in this country!

Tomorrow

Rain will spread steadily northwards to all parts tomorrow, Wednesday, turning heavy in places, with extensive hill and coastal fog forming. However, some dry intervals may develop in inland parts of the south later. Winds will be light to moderate, easterly for a time, but it will become breezy everywhere by the end of the day, with moderate to fresh southerly winds developing. Very mild and humid; highest temperatures 17 to 21 degrees Celsius.

Outlook

Wednesday night will be wet and windy with widespread rain. A very mild and close night with lows of 13 to 17 degrees.

Thursday will be a very wet day with heavy falls of rain for much of the country. The rain will lead to localised flooding and will last throughout the day. It will gradually clear away to the east overnight on Thursday. Highs of 18 to 21 degrees are expected and it will remain mild overnight with lows of 12 to 14 degrees.

Moderate eh..more like a normal wet day! Spot flooding in some places tomorrow, as there has been all week tbh

Time will tell. There is certainly the potential for more widespread flooding than in previous days. Met.ie have a yellow alert too. Just have a look at what's sweeping into munster at the moment

Have to agree here. Being in the west we are used to heavy rain but what has been falling since 9 am is persistent and very heavy. Roads are flooding and the river near me has visibly risen to more like winter levels. Looks as if it will lighten and clear in the next hour or so. Certainly hope so.

the Athlone bypass(part of the M6 motorway) is under water. Very dangerous driving conditions all along it. Lots of aquaplaning!

Met Eireann have changed their yellow alert to an orange alert for tomorrow for Munster, Leinster, Connaught, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan....so the whole country basically!!

Watch for fast-rising water levels on the Wicklow rivers. You don't want to be on a river like the Dargle or Annamoe with a large thunderstorm dumping a lot of water upstream..

I've to do a 4 hour walking tour of dublin and play two tag rugby matches tomorrow. Anyone have any suggestions for clothing? Do I go super waterproof and try to fight it, or do I go out with board shorts, flip flops and a hip flask of whiskey and embrace it?

Will things get bad in Dublin? If so, in how long? I have an elderly relation whose home has a flooding issue. I want to warn them about the bad weather because it hasn't been well forecast, but at the same time I don't want to be waking them up in the middle of the night and panicking them. Will Dublin be hit severely before morning?

Thundery downpours here for most of the afternoon.
I wonder is this rain as heavy as the rain we had back in November 2009? I ask because, while i was out of the country at the time, that rain led to major flooding - something that has never happened here before, at least not in my life time. I suppose the rain back then much have lasted a good deal longer, rather than being of any greater intensity.
