Customs/Import and VAT on items replaced under guarantee

    I got a text from DPD this morning about customs and VAT charges on a set of items that have been replaced under guarantee. I had asked the sender to put a note on the box to that accord, but DPD advised me it makes no difference—the charges are due. The thing is, am I liable for them, or is the manufacture. Or are DPD wrong here in the first place?

    I wouldn't have thought that I'd have to pay customs etc. In such a scenario.

    Ask DPD to send you the legislation or directive from Revenue stipulating charges are due on replacement/guarantee items.
