Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I guess its time to replace load of light sticks I've had in various bug out bags and survival kits for a few years as I've read they have a life span of 2-3 years.

Can anyone confirm how long they will last in storage? Annoyingly I didn't date mark any of my old ones so I can't tell the difference between ones I bought last year and ones I bought 3 years ago none of course have any best before dates on them.

I found what I think was one of the oldest batch I have, about 3 years and it worked fine. I only use the cheapest Gelert or some other cheap "insert a camping name brand here" ones so no massive expense replacing them.

Did find some interesting other info on line though while checking this out. One thing I didn't know is that the Green ones are supposed to be the best ones to get, they glow the longest and give the best illumination because the human eye is sensitive to that colour. In descending order the next best colours would be Yellow, Orange, Blue, Purple then White. The White ones not providing as much light as the Green ones. In the past I have always picked up Yellow for first preference then Blue then Orange so I'll probably stick with Green and Yellow from now on.
