Picked these up this morning in dealz.
Mess tin and folding shovel.€1.49 each, so even if they are a bit fflimsy, for that price their worth it.
They also have emergency foil blankets and shelters.first aid kits. Torches, whistles, sewing kits and other little niggly bits.grand and handy for car boot or emergency bob

Mess tin seems a bit flimsy but as long as it gets no holes all is good
Shovel is fairly well put together I think

Based on the pic in the OP, that looks more like a gardening trowel than a shovel? I was expecting something like an entrenching tool...

Well for 1.49 advertised as a camping ...
I imagine it could come in very handy for something.
Fits in all my outdoor activities bags too!!

It might work OK for trading rice or dried beans from a big sack. Ladling food? - after rotating the handle upwards and fixing it it there, and/or moulding the body into a deeper spoon shape.

As a garden trowel, maybe. After you securely fixed the handle open, with a bit of wood and some kind of cord.

For one fiddy, no one gets an entrenching tool. Unless the market is flooded with them, and then it is well past time to decamp.

    Not slagging, btw.

    Not your ornery onager

Could be used as a handy little sanitation tool, wouldn't take up much space in your BOB.

I have one and use it for clearing ground for Mt fire, digging a hole for my poop and for digging for worms when I'm fishing. Handy size, sturdy enough and at that price, earns a place in my bob and fishing bag

I carry the one I have when hiking or 1 night camp for this reason and it's also handy for digging a fire pit if needed also used it a few winters ago to to spread rock salt on the driveway
