Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Folks,

I'm a newbie to cycling and am looking for a road bike. and like everybody else i want the best bang for my buck. Has anybody heard of or own a vitus razor road bike? they appear to tick all the boxes and are keenly priced at just under €680. if anybody has any feedback on these bikes or could suggest something similar i would be much appreciated. i have spent the last two weeks researching bikes and i am no nearer to picking one from the day i started. thanks again.

I have a Vitus Stag hybrid that I bought off CRC after my Trek was stolen. Can't really find fault with it (considering the bargain price I got it for anyway). The only annoyance was it didn't have clearance for proper mudguards due to the caliper brakes. It's tricky enough to find a road bike with full mudguard clearance anyway. I did have to replace the tyres as well as the stock tyres were like tissue paper when it came to puncture protection.

thanks for that stark, i didn't even think about that, just presumed it would take mud guards, i have a funny feeling i'll be going back to the drawing board.

thanks for that but i think they have upgraded the bike a bit since then, carbon fork etc. i was really wondering if anybody actually had this bike or if they could recommend one that was similar. thanks again.

    Had the old version 2008.
Found it very comfortable but the handling wasn't great. Not sure if it was the fork, frame or combination of both but wasn't confidence inspiring.
I got it for a very good price in the Chain reaction sale but woudn't have paid full price for it.
As I said, mine was the old version so things may have changed for the better.

I have the 2009 version. Have used it for a few years now and did the Wicklow 200 on it yesterday. Don't have any problems with it, everything has held up fine.

congrats for doing that yesterday, does your bike have the carbon fork? is €680 too pricey for that bike or is that about right? thanks for the reply.

No, alu fork. I'm not sure if that price is good or bad tbh. Others here would know better.
