Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey there,

I'm wondering if someone might have more information regarding my Great Great gand uncle. He was a Captain in the Old IRA circa 1920's. I know nothing more about him other then he lived near sligo/Derry and had a brother called Peter (farmer) and a sister called Cathie nee Gallagher (shop owner).

If anyone can shed a little light on him that would be great.

Check out the Bureau of Military History and use the search engine. He may have made a statement to the bureau or may be mentioned in some one else's statement. Even put in the townland ,street where he was born and it will show any military activity linked to that area

If you had a little more detail e.g date of birth or brigade/battalion memberhsip write to the Military Pensions in Galway. If he applied for a military pension they would have his application which would indicate his involvement, Battalion membership and any activities such a ambushes etc he would have been involved in
