Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anybody in a position to recommend a property surveyor in the County Longford area?

There are different types of people depending on your needs.

Can't recommend anyone straight off. But try http://www.scs.ie/ASP/searchmembpub.asp - Longford doesn't have many surveyors and http://www.iavi.ie/about/bymember.asp. Also try www.riai.ie (architect) and www.iei.ie (engineer).

What do you need done? Structural survey for bank? Snag list? Valuation?

Any problems come back to me.

I want somebody to do a valuation report for the bank, check the houses as they are being built* and do snag lists when they are complete.

*I have heard that this is a wise thing to do as a lot sloppy work etc. can be hidden in the final stages.
I have never bought a new house, so I want to make sure the builders are doing them properly.

A valuation surveyor or an estate agent would be best for these. Ask your bank if they have a recommended list, otherwise you might get a report done (and paid for) and the bank may not accept it.

You might need a separate person to do this, although many people do overlap between the construction and valuation side (Jack of all trades, master of none).

Oh yeah, try to make sure you get someone in form the start (a pure valuation surveyor may not do this type of work).
