Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Strong rumour circling that it's done.
A mod can close if it turns out to be bullsh*t.

are david moyes and manchester united done ?

    Neil Custis:
DAVID MOYES will be sacked by Manchester United — and the axe could fall before the weekend.

The Old Trafford board have finally lost faith in Moyes with the defeat at his former club Everton on Sunday the final straw.

Player-coach Ryan Giggs could now be put in charge for the final four games.

In fairness, it has to be done. The man is so far out of his depth he should be wearing snorkels on the sideline.

Admit their mistake and move on. It's not worth destroying the club just to save face as a club who will give managers time when it's clearly not going to work.

Being reported by the Guardian and the Times as well as plenty of credible journalists.

    A damn shame...

If it's true I wish him the best.

The Guardian is reporting afresh that its a matter of time but that discussions/deliberations are still ongoing. No trigger pulled yet, apparently.

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/apr/21/david-moyes-sack-manchester-united
David Moyes is facing the sack as Manchester United manager with the owners, the Glazer family, and Ed Woodward, the vice-president, locked in discussions about whether they should continue with the Scot.

The Guardian's headline says he's gone, but the story is different.

You missed the "Will be" in the first line.

    A sad day.

The guy has been a breath of fresh air to non Utd supporters this season.

Might as well give giggs a run as player coach to get some experience until the end of the season.

Alex Ferguson to make a miraculous comeback on Easter Monday, eh?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Please let him stay until the Sunderland game at least. Of course he'll probably get the Norwich game, fail to win, then get the chop allowing United to batter Sunderland on the 3rd of May  Typical. :pac:

So does Moyes get to pick his successor now? I understand that that's how it works at Utd.

The guy has been a class act all through this. Hope United get relegated next season and Moyesy comfortably keeps a West Brom level team above relegation.

Would be foolish to overlook Tony Pulis.

He made millions of fan happy worldwide. He will be welcome in Liverpool, London and Manchester (the blue part of city) any time of day, any day of the year.

Agent Moyes, your cover has been blown. Report back to base for re-assignment.

Never ever should have been given the job.

I remember when he was appointed, I thought it was a joke that a manager, who had done nothing beyond make a team hard enough to beat on a small budget, was to be Fergie's successor.

I was talked around by more rational people, but on the whole he was just not good enough, which was what most of us figured in the beginning.

I would give him a contract extension.

Moyes to be next English manager after the World Cup?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

It probably would have been better long term for Everton to just let them win yesterday.

Man United 'sources' are giving this story to the media, but they won't go on the record.

Whoever is doing that has no class, employees should not be briefing against their own Manager.

It's probably the way the club have decided to break the news, not some employee doing a solo run.

Pretty shoddy alright. Moyes may be doing a crap job but he doesn't deserve his employer speaking to journalists behind his back.

The general gist of the stories is that it's a done deal/already made decision, but not a definite date for the announcement. The most pointed phrase in the Guardian story is 'dead man walking'.

I don't think it's in the club's style to boot him before the season's out, but I shouldn't imagine they'll wait more than a day or two after the final game before making the announcement.

If it's true, then the negotiations with the next manager are already taking place.

For all the awful Paddy Power "jokes" and similar low quality gags in the humour thread the blood lies on Manchester United's cold hands.

When City win the League, it'll be full of mocking Liverpool humor.

They should really give him the next three games to show if they can turn the corner :)

whoever gets the job next should easily improve the style of play at united. big Sam perhaps?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,720 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

This is everything wrong with football lads. I think we should start a petition for Moyes to keep his job.

Daily Fail saying he's been sacked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Does this mean that the, 'The Chosen One', banner can finally be taken down?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,372 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Is there any point in sacking him with 4 games left in the season? Surely be more dignified to let the season run its course and then let him go quietly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,735 ✭✭✭✭Bobeagleburger

Be interesting to see if he's paid his final 5 years in compo. Party in David's tonight

Should have been gone by Christmas, in all honesty.
