Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Folks, now that the summer is in full swing time to look towards winter.
Seriously thinking of getting a bale shear but not sure which type.
Had looked a few years ago but reckoned they were too expensive.
    Have a Massey 50hx.

Was looking at the tanco, cashel and sherman ones.
Anyone got one and how do they get on? Looking at videos some hold onto a lot of silage with the netting espically the cashel one.

have a tanco L70 a few years now, would be without it tbh.
can fodder out extremely fast and cutting bale in half makes it easier to share the bale out rather than a full bale in the middle of the barrier, cattle fight less
can also get a bucket for the tanco and its good for gathering bushes aswell!:D

Thinking along the same lines as yourself. Definitely on the list for the winter and your right, some seem to hold onto a lot of silage

Had looked at them a few years ago but was getting quoted about 4K which I reckon is too much.

    What price are they nowadays?

    Hi yellow50HX

Just wondering if you purchased after ?

I see nugent engineering are also doing a bale cutter.

I have a 390T 4wd with mx loader ...anyone working a bale shear with a similar size tractor ?

I have one for years made by Rohan Eng in Adare, just after being upgraded now with a new floating clamp. Super job, he'll customise it to your tractor size, within reason, and it's cheaper and better than the mass produced ones, obviously no middle man. No more up and down or messing with dividing bales or silage through the barriers.

Have a Pro Dig on a Jcb but it would be way too heavy for a tractor.
We pit a Shearman on a tractor this year and are delighted with it. We need to modify it slightly by adding an extra short time on each side. Better at bales than the Pro Dig but wouldn’t be heavy duty enough for a shovel
