Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi I have a couple of questions around the scheme if someone could help with please?

    Can you stay on HAP indefinitely, or are you obliged to take a council house if one comes up?
    If you turn down 2 council houses does your Hap benefit stop and if so for how long?

    If you are housed under HAP, your housing need is deemed to have been met and you will no longer be on the local authority's housing list. However, if you still want to be considered for social housing you can apply to be placed on the local authority's transfer list.

    But if you asked to be on the council list and are offered a place. Can you still decide not to take it and stay on the HAP scheme indefinitely?

    This isn't a definitive answer but just a fact-based opinion.

    If you turn down two offers of housing without good reason then you run the risk of being removed from the social Housing List.

    As you have to be on the Housing List to be eligible for HAP then you are certainly running a risk of having your HAP stopped if you decline two social housing offers.

    Note this isn't aimed at the OP in particular but are general musings.

    Why would someone not take up a council house and remain on HAP? Surely it's better to have the council as your landlord rather than someone who is looking at it from a business perspective. A council house is a guaranteed long term let that you really can make a home whereas with private renting there is always the danger that the landlord might decide to want you out for a number of reasons.

    hi guys just a quick question and sorry if it has been asked before , a friend of mine is a HAP tenant and he got a phone call from the council about getting a 2 bed house they asked him for the landlords nmber for a reference and hes given the council a good reference , so the question is how long doesit take for the council to come back to him about getting the house as he has heard nothing now for 2 weeks , does it mean that he not getting the house and it has been given to somebody else
