Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Howdy folks.

Anyone know where i could get some steel rectangle section 100x40mm? 2mm or 3mm thick. Just need about 800mm length if it. Is this a size stocked by many steel suppliers? I have looked online but can only find a place in Germany that stocks it.
    Thanks

    80 x 40 or 100 x 50 would be the commonly stocked sizes I believe.
Does it have to be 100 x 40 exactly?

Im tring to remake a part thats 90x40 so i want to cut down the 100 and weld in some support at the cut side, 90x40 does not exist at all. The component im trying to remake is bent out of sheet metal. I want to avoid the bending.

80x40 will work too but if i can get 100x40 then that would be ideal.

Buy twice the length you need of 80 x 40.
Cut to suit and weld up into 90 x 40 section.

That would work except one end is 90mm wide and the other is 45 mm

Is it 40mm on the other side all the way?
I still don't see why you couldn't cut it down to that shape in the way I describe.

if the old part is sheet metal, any reason you're going to 3mm?
