Is it worth spending a decent amount on jeans?

Never really spent a lot on jeans but thinking it could be worth it. The official Levis store where I live runs about $200-250 a pair last time I wandered in. I don't even know what other brands to look for?

Is there a noticeable worthwhile difference? I'm not that happy with my last few cheaper buys.

Definitely buy quality if you're buying jeans. It's worth the extra few bob imo. For one, you'll have a pair that'll last years if you care for them. Quality brands don't tend to lose their shape either.

Personally, I usually go for 511's or 512's but it really depends on your size/shape. And buy online, much cheaper than bricks and mortar. Try 'em on in store and shop for the same size online.

There's a sweet spot if you find a style that fits you where a few pairs of 75-100 quid jeans would do you for everyday wear, but I'd agree that you can def tell the difference after a few years with certain brands (tho not all!)

I bought a pair of Calvin kleins in college that were three times the price of my usual everdays, and several years later you could still wear them to a place that you'd want a smart pair on.

I wore no other denims than levi's 501, for over 30 years.....still has the same waist
Still wear them bar when I wear a suit etc.

It is just as cheap to buy them online,
I dont know where you are shopping, but 200quid upwards is you being robbed.

on the levi store you can put in your age, weight, height etc and get your sizes.....and you can return as well.
cheaper by far than the shops you are using.

I have a penchant for Nudie. Absolutely love the styles, shade of denim, quality of the denim, great fit...don’t fade and long lasting if you wash properly...

Their denim jackets too are really nice. Their EVERYTHING is really nice, if expensive.

Levi’s while quality and long lasting just don’t seem to have much imagination when it comes to jeans or any of their clothing any more.

Likely to be someone on soon to disagree with this, but I find Tommy Hilfiger jeans to be the most comfortable for my size and they generally wear quite well (with the exception of 1 pair I bought). I currently have 2 pairs for over 2 years which still get worn a couple of days a week each. Usually go for around 100 euro a pair, which is good value for as long as I have had them.

oddly I find the opposite, i always wore levis cos they fit the best to match the style.

Its the durability that is the issue

The guy I was recently dating wore these all the time. He said they were a good fit and lasted ages and were worth the price. He was about 6 ft, average build.

I used to work in sales and can say it is worth it to buy decent jeans, 100 is nothing really if they last a few years OP. Jeans do stretch a bit over time though don't forget that, we used to tell women always buy a size that feels very sung as they will loosen, I don't think men have exactly the same issue but it's worth thinking about.

Really ? Jesus, I have Levi’s stuff that’s probably 15 years old, jeans AND jackets, well I think I do, if they haven’t been plundered too .

Levis have some jeans that look standard but have some elastic material used in the denim fabric so there's a bit of flex/give in them - Its legendary.

Also they have good deep pockets which means my larger smartphone fits comfortably - Not always the case.

PS I paid a fraction of the money OP mentions on amazon.co.uk - Try on a pair in a shop and check colours/shades etc and then buy online once you know your size and the product no of your ideal choice of jeans.

Suppose I'll look to get some good pairs. I'm in Vietnam, thus the high price in official stores. I've gone shopping for seconds before and it's annoying but might research it again and see if there are better options.

I'm a woman, but I'll spend money on decent jeans, AG (Adriano Goldshmied) usually. It saves money in the long run, as they never lose their shape or stretch. I think AG also do mens jeans as well. They are VERY expensive but the quality is amazing, I have coloured skinny jeans from eight years ago that haven't faded, stretched or lost any shape. You can get good deals in sales ( I buy from shopbop or revolve) from the US, or buy new last season jeans for cheap on Ebay US. Their sizing is fairly consistent so if you can try them on in a shop here and take note of the model and size you could probably find it online at a discount.

I stopped buying Levi's years ago - I get River Island slim fit jeans now (Dylan) and MS slim fit jeans. 50 quid a pair.

Levi's aren't a high brow brand, they are seen as basic enough in the US, we just pay way more here for them. I bought my pairs there for $30 or $40 each. Once a sale 2 pairs for $30.

you must be buying imitation ones, remember buying a pair of them, terrible stitching and bad fitting.

Cheapest levis i could find in cork is the Denim Store, official levi shop, selling 501s at 80 euro, which is about 20 quid or more cheaper than some other shops

They were from an offical Levi store, they are perfect now 5 years later. We just get ripped off here for them, and most jeans I think.

Guess it shows how bad things are when i am thinking 80euros seems reasonable for a pair of jeans.

I bought a pair of jeans in penneys for 13 quid....for when I am out the country with the dog, or doing work in the garden, painting etc...and the are the most comfortable and durable.

Its only vanity and fashion now I wear the levis for

200 quid seems like a lot for a pair of jeans. I managed to get a great pair in Pennys for feck all. They're stretchable too so they don't squeeze your scrotum.

early teens- Eclipse:cool:
late teens- Levis
20's/30's- CK and Tommy Hilfiger (my boot cut jeans look like flares now)
40's(just)- Penneys or Jack and Jones :pac:
I find Penneys jeans great now, plenty of fits and colours, I never thought i'd say that

Ohh I cringe when I look at my old bootcut jeans. But yeah Pennys has a great selection. The jeans I have now are the most comfortable I've ever worn.

How much do you care about jeans? I love jeans and my favourite brand is called Iron Heart, they might be pricey but the quality is top-notch.

Rarely wear jeans anymore, but levi 511 are decent. 200 seems excessive, you'll pickup something decent for 100-130

I find Hugo Boss the most hard wearing jeans and they wash well.
Bought 2 pairs of 7 for all mankind in the 00's they're as strong as kitchen roll, fall apart after a year.

Absolute rubbish.

I would agree with you on TH jeans, I wear them and Nudie.
I find both of them are comfortable and very long lasting.

TH often have good sales on and thats when id usually buy 1 or 2 pairs.

Nudie always have decent sales on from time to time.

Get a decent pair of jeans ? Absolutely , last for years if looked after.

But 200 plus ? Christ no. Can get jeans just as good for 150 and under

I've had good luck with Hilfiger and GANT. They seem to last for ages, wash well and keep their colour. Years ago I used to only buy €50 Jack & Jones jeans that used to be worn out and faded looking after three months. The oldest pair of Hilfiger jeans I own were bought during the January sales in 2014 and still going strong.

There was a time I only bought and would wear Diesel jeans. I found the fit for me to be perfect. One Xmas I got a pair as a present from Jack & Jones about 6 years ago, I was surprised by how well they fitted and the comfort. I buy any new jeans needed from here there now.

In my opinion, no.

I've tried different brands and price range jeans and they all end up ripping somewhere at some stage.

Not to sound like a twat but I do like high end quality clothing, jumpers and the likes I do splash out on, but never jeans. H&M 20 quid all day long. Do the job well and cheap as chips to replace whenever you feel they get worn out. At the end of the day they're just jeans, walking down the street nobody is going to know whether you spent 50 or 500 and I'll bet you won't feel the difference either.

Bought two pairs in Burton's going on ten years ago for €25 each. Both have kept there shape and colour very impressively.

I've never paid more than €50-ish for a pair.

Nice thing about Penneys too is the range of sizes, including odd numbers.

33" Waist 32" Leg etc.

Found that 501s have gone very narrow in the end of the leg so switched to 511.

Best pair if jeans I have bought are from Olympus. Designed for the bigger thighs gentleman. Come in at 70 sterling a pair but are comfy and durable and also do some stylish numbers too. Heavily recommend them.

Used to buy cheap ill fitting jeans that never quite worked so made the splash and spent more and my logic is if they fit and feel comfortable then you wear them for longer and they pay for themselves. Just my logic
