Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cyclocross bike recommendations?

    Hey all, need some advice:

    I've got about a grand to buy a bike, I've been using a MTB for years (I like popping off road now and again), but for the last year I've been doing longer & longer distance road trips and it's just making my life hard.

    I was gonna go for a racer, but I've saw a cyclo-cross bike in Edinburgh and am interested (twas a Specialized 2006 Tricross Sport Double - tad dear tho). It seems to have the benefit of light frame, less severe riding position and slight off-road ability. And I don't see why I can't throw on slicks for proper road cycling.

    Also wouldn't mind giving Cyclo-X a go.

    But it's hard to find a selection. cyclesuperstore.ie only mentions this one:
    Flanders Zenith Cyclo Cross '06

    Can anyone recommend any alternatives?

    The Planet X Kaffenback is a good steel frame with v-brakes or cantilevers and plently of clearance for cross tyres. You could build one up on the cheap or go for a flat-barred version for about Stg700 but the spesh probably has the edge, for extra STG100.

    Chainreactioncycles does Kinesis Crosslight cyclo- x frames from about €300 which are very good, and very light.
