Just a few things. Two rounds are to be played simmultaniously which means that everybody will be starting one game tonight. If anybody has any problem in setting a game up post here and I or somebody else will answer. Make sure you get the color, the time, 1 day per move, 0 days timebank right.

Whoever wins the game posts the result.

All of the other rules are on the first post but just one more thing. On RedhotPawn, when your oponent runs out of time, you have the option to end the match but it's not necessary. I would ask that if somebody is going away and doesn't think that they will be able to access a computer could they post here and PM there opponents. If someone has done that to you, please don't end the game via time. For instance, whoever is playing Dave 147 might give him a bit of leeway considering his post at the top of the page.

And we have ourselves a tourney favourite.

Mine was 1450+ at it's peak, but then I realised it was harder to win money so I started lowering my rating in games where there was nothing on the line. U1200 section FTW. Once I played for Leinster I quit because I realised it was probably my peak.

That's how I saw the play listing anyway.

Dunno about the scoring system. This is Bubs' baby. That seems about as sensible as any other though.

Yeah, the score system and the left side as white is the way it's going to go. It's the natural way to do Chess tournaments. Probably should have mentioned that earlier

Another thing that i thought I had put in the rules but I have just realised that I had only put it in a PM to somebody else. You need to keep at least two of your 6 spaces free for boards games. It doesn't look like any of figs' games will be over for at least 10 moves each so you might have to wait a bit BossArky.

There are probably going to be more teething problems considering this is the first round so if anybody has any more can they post them either here or via PM and if a player hasn't made any effort to play by Friday night I'll remove them from the league

No, I sent him a PM aswell. If I don't get a reply by friday you can play Pharekades (I think that's his other opponent) and we can eliminate him from the league. There are always going to be some teething problems with the first round especially when the forum get's relatively little attention. Neither of my matches have kicked off yet

Do you think it would speed things up if we could just challenge whoever we want on the list?

We may be waiting a while for the next 2 opponents to become aware that we are waiting to play then, or for them to finish other games.

If we could play anyone in the league we could rattle through the matchs. Just be sure to record all the results!

Well we can play 2 at a time with 1 day to move. So you won't be waiting for long. I've started matches 2 and 3 and i'll make my way down through the rounds. I think it's fine the way it is.

Yeah, but this theory only works if the people actually move (and set the time limit to one day not three - *cough cough*) or are available and open for challenges.

Personally I see the current setup as a bottle neck. However, it does make for or a communal tournament style if we are all on roughly the same round.

If that's what people want to do I have no problem with it at all but if possible could it wait till Saturday. I want to see who's active and who isn't on Friday so we just get the people who still want to play. CHD for example still hasn't given me a username. In reality, each game should take around 3 days if you check the site often enough

After a hard fought game against Rashers I got my first point of the tournament. Well played Rashers.

Was just wondering how we're going to monitor the results and keep score. After 28 rounds this could end up being a very long thread and I really don't fancy the idea of having to mull through 100pages to see who won the most games. Is there a way we could do a league table or an easier way might be to have a new sticky where the fixtures are displayed. As each result is announced here by the winner of the match it is simply noted against the fixture or the name highlighted in bold.

Any thoughts anyone?

This initial post could also be updated with results, saving us wading through pages to find out what the situtation is.

It would be up to individuals to prompt Bubs101 (as the one with mod rights) to update the initial post with results.

Challenged random Chatbox for my second round match

Just waiting for 'em to come online now! Rashers I read the list wrong, and set myself playing white, you can cancel the match and rechallenge me if you wish.
