Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Anyone recommend one of the bottles that are also on special. They have a good few half price and a number of McGuigans are down ot €7.

    JJ Mc Williams Shiraz or Chardonnay Was €13.99, Now €5

    The maths are good, whatever about the wine. (I have not tried it yet).
    6 x €5 = €30 less 25% discount of €7.50 = total of €22.50 for 6 = €3.75 per bottle.

    Has anybody tried either of these?

    I need to buy wine for a forthcoming family event and if this wine is drinkable, this looks to be a good deal.

    Between myself and 'er indoors, we can recommend all of these.
    Also, there's a lovely French wine called Domaines Arnaud Merlot Cabernet down from 13.99 to 7 euro.
    Another nice one is Les Montgolfiers (can't remember the variety) red for about 6 or 7 euro too.

    Tesco do have fantastic prices on the aul plonk.

    Any of the Rawnsley Estates or the Eagle Hawks are very drinkable.

    I picked up a selection of McGuigans (Black Label CabSav & Merlot, Bin 736 and reserve Shiraz) and Campo Viejo Reserva. They were sold out of Domaines Arnaud. They had loads of Rawnsley Estate but I hadn't read your post. Might just have to go back Sunday :)

    Thats exactly what I did ... have to say the wine was a bit "harsh" , Ive had other Shiraz's that tasted and felt "smoother" and more "velvet-y" going down. At €3.75 I wasn't complaining ,but no way on earth is that a €13.99 wine.

    Could also be applied to a lot of the "was" prices on Tesco wines.

    You have to be careful with the Tesco half price stuff. Unless you know the wine and what it costs elsewhere don't assume it is any better than you would expect for the reduced price.

    Marques De Riscal at €15 is a really good price
    Domaine Arnaud is lovely and tastes like it could be worth a lot more
    Ogio on the other hand is Italian plonk and is worth only the €5.99 it sells for. A few of the aussie offerings are pretty dubious as well.
