Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Yeah, saw it. He did the same tihng in the live show I was at about 3 weeks ago. Great stuff, though I'd like to have seen the people's reaction to the girl, where the program cut.

    derren brown is an illusionist, not a medium or spirit communicator.
    under british law it is illegal to televise a genuine seance, he was able to bypass the law by creating the illusion of one.

    I propose joepc be banned from the paranormal board.
    I have no belief in this hocus pocus.

    Dont you get it, medium and/or spirit communicators are illusionists thats the whole point. These people create the illusion hence giving you the experence........

    As for you comment trying to get me banned, the title of this forum is "Paranormal" not "Only people that believe in paranormal can post here", its a disscussion forum not a one sided forum.

    i have sat in a room and watched a medium transmute (take on the appearance of someone else)..in the company of others.(by way of manifesting energy into physical form)

    this discussion was had before..read the charter..if you don't believe, take it to skeptics.

    how is he a fake???

    he's a illusionlist (sp) and the way they make things look real are by slide of hand and other tricks that may not be visable to the naked eye.

    i don't think david blaine is as good like but he is good.

    i watch some of the senance i missed the part where they actually picked the photo of jane.

    it was really freaky show tbh, but i prefer his normal friday 10 o clock show less freakier and more :eek:

    just to clarify..a medium claims to be able to communicate with spirit and usually the evidence they give is relative to the recipient (personal, private)...and not in derren browns case...information relating to an unknown persons, which cannot be exclusivly confirmed through personal knowledge of that person.

    example of how a psychic/medium reading relates to personal information.:
    "I went to a Psychic fair in Chicago, all by myself, on the spur of the moment, then looked around and saw a little old man sitting all by himself, a bit away from all others. I walked over to him, asked him how much he charges, and sat down. He did not even ask my birth date or any other question, and began to talk about my children.

    He said I had two children, a boy and a girl. I told him that this is not true, that I have two girls. He said that he knows different, which really upset me. He went on saying that the boy died right after his birth, and that my girl had died a few years back in a tragic incident, and that the second girl is not my own girl, but is adopted. He was right, because I had to admit that I no longer thought of my little boy any longer as a son.

    ( he was born 37 years earlier, prematurely in the 6th month of pregnancy, and had only lived 25 minutes.)

    He then told me that I am writing a Novel, and began to outline the story, naming the character in the Novel by name, their roles, and how they related to each other, and the time frame of the story. He was right in the smallest detail, better than I could describe myself, having written it.

    He told me that I would be teaching many people, and that people will come to my house to ask for lessons, but it would be out of the State, in the South.

    (The South was the last place on earth I would want to live at that time. Neither would I want to leave my job, or my dream house that I had purchased only a short time before. It was months later that my husband was suddenly transferred to Georgia. Here I had an Art exhibition in Atlanta, and people had approached me to teach Art, especially oil painting.)

    There were many other events he told me from my childhood, early adulthood, my former marriage, all accurate in every aspect and every little detail. He described the house I was born in, a house I had never again seen in over 46 years, and I had to look on an old photograph to check the details he described, of which I was no longer aware of.

    He was correct. He took a pen and wrote my father's name, in my father's handwriting. (The old German script, which is no longer in use, called: Hohe Stolze.)

    Now, I don't expect you to believe me, and I don't care one way or another, whatever explanation you come up with for all that, it does not change one tittle.

    Just remember one thing: I had never been in Chicago before, other than driving through. Chicago was 45 miles from where I lived, and I knew NO ONE in that city, nor did anyone know that I would be going to Chicago that day, and I had no idea that there was a Psychic Fair to begin with, but rather stumbled on it in one of the Malls.

    I thought it was a great show. Good TV.

    I think it should have been explained more. Esp the physcological side.

    I personally belive in the paranormal etc [to be loose with the term], but I thought it was a very interesting take on how people's minds work.

    What law is this?
    the same law richard and judy questioned derren browne about when he appeared on their show talking about how he was going to do a live seance.
    He explained there was a law, but that they had spoken with the comissioners (probably explaining how it wasn't an actual seance) and that it was a one off..

    I remember Paul Mckenna (the hypnotist guy) wanted to do a seance in his paranormal show a few years back, and they didn't let him because it was too dangerous for the audience.

    Has anyone actually messed around with an ouija board??

    I remember a guy told me that he knew a girl who did it and stupidly she asked when she was going to die. It told her 21. After that she went completely beserk. I only see this guy once in a blue moon, and I keep on forgetting to ask him, if she died or not (she probably died of a heart attack on her birthday).

    Love Paul McKenna, he's the biz, watched him on top gear a little while back and he hypnotised one of the presenters (not Jeremy clarkson) into forgetting how to drive..Classic :D

    but regarding the ouija board, not personally, although there was that time in holland where a couple of the guys made one (in their own chalet) and there was an earthquake..nothing major but enough to knock the glass. The guys (being in holland) had been "experimenting" with the waccy baccy..got toally freaked out and ran screaming like little girls into our place claiming some very strange things..heh heh....(can honestly say..no one slept that night)
    personally I don't recommend it, has messed with a lot of peoples minds.

    Yeah, I wouldn't do it myself, heard of a lot of people going crazy over it. Even an atheist advised me against it, which doesn't make much sense.

    so at the start of his shows he says there are no stooges etc....what the hell is going on with the person who picks up the phone and then just slides down the phone to go into a trance for abit then get up and walk away as if nothing has happened......either this person is a stooge or they are prep'ed before hand by hypnotising them, or something is said to them to just fall.hehe i reckon the person on other line says"hey ur on Darren Browns show so ur going to get a nice little earner if u just pretend to fall down while our cams film you!!!!.....

    either that or they have put Ether on handset of phone and there eyes start to roll back....hehe....either way its great Tv whatever is said about him.....
