Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Plaster crafting

    Hi, I decided to try plaster crafting but I need some advice about what material is best to use. I tried Plaster of Paris but I find it very soft. Is there any other plaster I can use for crafting that would be harder? I also want to try some garden projects using cement. Can I use just any kind of cement that I find in the Hardware store?     Are you carving the plaster? It takes a long time to dry before you can carve it properly. I used to cast large one foot cubes in wooden moulds for a school art day and it took weeks for them to dry out. Softness could also be due to plaster being old or too much water in the mix.



    I used casting plaster which I got from RPM in Ballymount, Dublin

    Dental plaster or dental stone is a type of casting material similar to plaster of paris but much harder. It's used to make casts in the dental industry but also by some model train and wargaming hobbyists. RPM Supplies in Dublin have various types, might be worth contacting them
