Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    The picture quality is incredible. Amazing to think that none of those photographed had any inkling of the massive tumult that was around the corner.

    The first picture is of an Armenian lady. I went to Armenia on my holidays the summer before last but the interesting thing about her picture is the date and the location. The picture was taken in what is now Turkey and before the Armenian genocide by the Turks. There is quite a high chance that within a few years of that picture been taken that she had been killed. If not killed more than likely a refugee.

    As Hitler said before he dealt with the Jews - "Who remembers the Armenian Genocide now"

    Bizzarely, I always thought he said "Who will remember the Red Indian?"

    But apparently there is some dispute about the authenticity of the Armenian quote (mostly from Turkish sources ...)

    The photography collection of Albert Kahn is what you're looking for then.

    They featured in a BBC4 documentary as did the Russian photos.
