Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fence to cover ugly wall

I'm not great with diy but i own a drill.
How much would materials cost to fit a fence to cover this wall? It's 30ft long, 8ft high and 6ft high.

I guess the fence wouldn't need to be particularly sturdy as it's in front of a wall. Could I just nail a few lengths of timber to the wall pillars and drill pickets (vertical bit of fence, not sure of the name) onto it?

Shiplap panels might be your best bet if (like myself!) you're not actually great at DIY. For example:
    https://www.abwood.ie/shop/fence-panels/shiplap-fencing

(am not recommending or endorsing Abwood in any way. It's just the first result that comes up on Google).

Not sure if you'd get them eight feet tall though, and even the 1.8 metres there is slightly short of the six feet of the lower part of your wall.

If it was me, I'd consider getting somebody to plaster the wall instead, and I'd maybe put some climbing plants in front of it afterwards. More of a permanent job that wouldn't need any maintenance. Plus the added bonus of not actually having to do very much myself! :D

You could try something like what was done here ...

So I'm thinking, timber to bridge the piers, nail pre treated lollipop fence boards to the timber

At the base, dump stones to cover the gap.
